The Redmi Note 12R smartphone has been launched in China. The mid-range Android smartphone is the first phone to run on the newly launched Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor.

Redmi Note 12R key specifications

The Redmi Note 12R shares most of its key specs and design with the recently announced Redmi 12. It sports a 6.79-inch IPS LCD with FHD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate and a punch hole cut-out for the 5MP front-facing camera.

On the back of the phone, there’s a 50MP main cam (f/1.8) along with a 2MP macro module.

However, the Redmi Note 12R is the first smartphone to ship with Qualcomm’s new mid-range chipset, the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2.

The new chipset is the successor to the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1, and with its Snapdragon X61 modem, this is the first chip in the series to support the improved 3GPP Release 16 version of 5G.

It’s also worth mentioning that the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 is also the first 4nm chip in the Snapdragon 4-series.

Redmi Note 12R also comes with 4GB RAM, 6GB RAM and 8GB RAM options and either 128GB or 256GB storage, which is expandable via the microSD card slot.

The Redmi Note 12R gets a 5,000 mAh battery with 18W charging support under the hood and runs on MIUI 14, based on Android 13.
