Tesla receives thousands of complaints about braking and acceleration problems

A German newspaper has reported that Tesla has received thousands of customer complaints about braking and acceleration problems. The report, which was based on a leak of confidential Tesla data, said that the company had received more than 2,400 complaints of Teslas suddenly accelerating and about 1,500 complaints of braking issues, including 383 cases of "phantom braking." The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is currently investigating the safety of Teslas after hundreds of drivers complained about phantom braking. The agency has received more than 750 complaints about phantom braking incidents. In August 2022, a Tesla owner filed a lawsuit against the Tesla over phantom braking. The driver said that the problems turned his Model 3's safety feature into a frightening and dangerous nightmare. He accused Tesla of hiding safety concerns related to its Autopilot system in the lawsuit. In November 2022, nine people were injured after an eight-car pileup was blamed on Tesla's phantom braking problem. One juvenile was hospitalised and the driver of the Tesla told authorities his car was in full-self-driving mode at the time of the accident. Tesla has not commented on the complaints about braking and acceleration problems.
