Internet Explorer to retire on June 15, Twitter gets nostalgic

Microsoft is finally retiring its once famous Internet Explorer browser. Microsoft Edge will now be the only default Windows browser.

It's finally happening! Microsoft’s Internet Explorer will shut down on June 15 after a 27-year long run.

It was the most popular web browser in the late 90s and early 2000s but was plagued with stability issues since the very beginning. The browser still became the default choice for most users since there weren't many alternatives available at the time. However, it started losing users to Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome in the late 2000s.

According to Microsoft, customers still using the Internet Explorer desktop application will be gradually shifted to Edge over the coming months following the June 15 support end date.
