Vijay Deverakonda refutes claims of filing a police complaint against trolls targeting film 'Family Star'

Actor Vijay Deverakonda responded to rumours of filing police complaints against trolls of his film 'Family Star.' Released on April 5, the film received mixed audience reactions. While some fans enjoyed it, others criticised it. Amid these reactions, rumours circulated that Vijay had taken legal action against trolls through his manager. Vijay clarified that he has not taken any such step.

Film reporter Haricharan Pudipeddi texted to Vijay Deverakonda about the news, sharing a photo of Vijay with a police officer and asking if there is any truth to the reports. Vijay replied, ‘nope.’ He clarified that the photo was old and taken during the Covid-19 pandemic.

‘Family Star’ producer Dil Raju proposed a three-day ban on reviews and social media reactions after a film's release. Speaking to TV9, he mentioned a court directive in Kerala and suggested a similar practice in the industry. Dil Raju emphasized the need for viewers to form their own opinions about films and not impose them on others.

Dil Raju said, ‘In Kerala, a court has directed to stop publishing reviews for three days after a film’s release. Something like this should be enforced here too for the betterment of our industry. We made a good movie, please come to the theatre and watch it. If you like it, tell it to others. You didn’t like a movie, that’s your opinion. But, don’t force your opinion on audiences.’

‘The family audiences have appreciated this film and have given good feedback. It has reached its intended audience. Producers are the first who are affected by these negative reviews. If this trend continues and damages pile on, there will be fewer people willing to produce,’ he added.

‘Family Star’, which also stars Mrunal Thakur, has had a surprisingly slow run at the box office.
