The 97th Academy Awards will be held on March 2, 2025, airing live from the Dolby Theatre. The ceremony is moved up about a week, following this year's successful broadcast watched by an estimated 19.5 million people, up about 4% from the previous year. The Oscars will start at 7PM EST, an hour earlier than usual, and ABC will broadcast the event.

The nominations will be announced on January 17 after multiple rounds of selection.

Announcing the timeline, the official Instagram page of The Academy wrote, ‘Mark your calendars! The 97th Oscars will take place on Sunday, March 2, 2025. Nominations will be announced on Friday, January 17, 2025. (sic).’

The deadline for general entry and Best Picture submissions is November 14. Preliminary voting for shortlists in ten categories will occur from December 9-13, with results announced on December 17. Nominations voting will take place from January 8-12, and the official nominations will be revealed on January 17, a new development as it's typically announced earlier in the week.

The official RRR X account shared the clip from the ceremony. Additionally, India’s Nitin Desai was honored in the ‘In Memoriam’ montage.
