SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus ‘RRR’ has reportedly registered over one million footfalls in Japan and it is the first Indian film to do so. It has also become the highest-grossing Indian film in the country. Ram Charan-Jr NTR starrer was released on 209 screens and 31 Imax screens across 44 cities and prefectures in Japan in October last year.

The news was shared on the official Twitter handle of ‘RRR’ movie. ‘#RRRMovie records 1 Million+ footfall in 164 Days and continues its rocking run,’ read the tweet.

Rajamouli is overwhelmed with the love his film has received in Japan. Taking to Twitter, he thanked the audience. ‘Showered with 1 Million hugs from Japanese fans…Arigato Guzaimasu #RRRinJapan,’ he tweeted.

‘RRR has received impressive reception from Western countries. Last month, the period drama became the first Indian production to win an Oscar award in the Original Song category for its song ‘Naatu Naatu’.

‘RRR’, set in the 1920s pre-independent era, is a fictional story based on the lives of two well-known revolutionaries – Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem. It collected over ₹1200 crore worldwide during its theatrical run.
