PM Modi launches 5G services in India

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has unveiled 5G services in India at the 6th India Mobile Congress.

After Diwali, 5G services will be available in 13 Indian cities which include Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Gandhinagar, Gurugram, Hyderabad, Jamnagar, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, and Pune.

The government has set a target of achieving 80 percent coverage of 5G telecom services in the country in a short period of time, according to Union Minister for Communications, Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw.

The three major telecom operators of India - Jio, Airtel and Vodafone Idea demonstrated various use cases of 5G technology in front of PM Modi.

5G can enable solutions such as connected vehicles, more-immersive augmented reality and metaverse experiences, life-saving use cases, and advanced mobile cloud gaming.

It can also power ultra-low latency connections that allow downloading full-length high-quality video or movie to a mobile device in a matter of seconds even in crowded areas.
