Twitter launches TikTok-style vertical videos

With Twitter's incorporation, vertical videos have now arrived on all major social media platforms.

Twitter launches TikTok-style vertical videos

Videos on Twitter will now resemble TikTok considerably more. The company has announced its transition to a vertical full-screen video player for viewing video clips.

It has also adopted the now-familiar "swipe up" feature, which enables users to constantly scroll through additional videos on the platform.

The move will make watching videos on Twitter significantly more reminiscent to exploring TikTok or Instagram's Reels, at least in terms of the user experience.

The updates are now exclusive to Twitter's iOS app, but the company has stated that a comparable update for Android might be released in the "coming weeks."

Although Twitter has long promoted videos on its platform (particularly live videos), this is one of the company's most aggressive initiatives to push videos on its users.

Additionally, some users may find the new full-screen videos to be intrusive. The business explains that the back arrow in the upper-left corner of a clip allows viewers to return to the original tweet.

Separately, Twitter is also experimenting with a method to attract more users to its video content. The firm is experimenting with a new video suggestions area on the Explore tab of Twitter.
