Google Pixel Tablet will be able to turn into a smart display

The Google Pixel Tablet, coming in 2023, will be the spiritual successor of the Pixel C from 2015.

Google Pixel Tablet will be able to turn into a smart display

Google has revealed more information about its upcoming Pixel Tablet, which is the first Android powered tablet Google has made since 2015.

While the Pixel tablet’s official launch will take place in early 2023, it is confirmed to be powered by Google's latest Tensor G2 SoC that's found on the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro.

Samsung's 4nm process is used to make the new Tensor G2 chipset. The CPU is still 2x Cortex-X1 + 2x A76 and 4x A55, but the clock speed has been increased by a small amount.

More interesting is the Mali-G710 MC10 GPU. It promises to be faster and better at graphics than the G78 and to speed up machine learning tasks by 35 percent. There is also a new modem and a new Tensor core.

However, the most interesting thing that Google revealed was the Charging Speaker Dock for the Pixel tablet.

This will essentially turn it into a smart display while it's docked, since the Google Assistant will always be active and users will be able to use it in hands-free mode. It would also let users control smart home devices.

When docked, the tablet will curate a slideshow of photographs that will play as a slideshow, thus serving as a smart photo frame.

However, Google did not reveal if this dock would be bundled with the Pixel Tablet or sold as an accessory.

Since companies nowadays don't like to put a charging brick in the box with a phone/tablet, it's likely that this dock would be sold separately.
