Apple HomeView Launched With A 7-Inch Display, FaceTime And Smart-Home Controls

Apple HomeView is the company’s first proper smart display. It combines a 7-inch Liquid Retina screen, a speaker base, Siri AI and smart-home controls in one shared household device.

It costs ₹39,900 in India and will be offered as a tabletop unit or a wall-mounted model.

A Screen That Knows Who Is Standing In Front Of It

The tabletop model uses a stainless-steel hinge to tilt its display, while the wall-mounted model is designed for halls and entryways. The screen supports True Tone, reaches 500 nits and dims to 0.3 nits at night.

HomeView also adapts its interface according to distance, offering simpler details across the room and more information when someone moves closer.

It can recognise up to six people by face. Each person can get a private Home screen with Messages, FaceTime, Calendar, Reminders and Find My information. Shared music and photo albums remain accessible to the whole home.

A Smart Display That Also Has Serious Audio Hardware

HomeView is not only a digital photo frame. It has Photos, Flow and Snoopy faces, while its Photos face can use shared albums and portrait-style depth effects.

The tabletop unit has two full-range drivers, a down-firing woofer and two force-cancelling passive radiators. Apple says it can deliver room-filling Spatial Audio, with computational audio adjusting loudness and bass response.

It supports Apple Music, Podcasts, News, Apple TV and compatible third-party apps. Handoff lets users move audio from an iPhone to the display. It also supports FaceTime with Centre Stage, Intercom, Live Activities and hands-free recipe guidance.

The Most Useful Apple Smart-Home Controller Yet

HomeView can show up to nine camera feeds at once and lets users control lights, thermostats, locks and blinds by touch or voice. It can also display descriptions of HomeKit Secure Video clips.

It supports Matter accessories and Apple Home Collection products, including cameras, thermostats and a lock built with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric. It can also recognise smoke and carbon-monoxide alarm sounds and alert users on their Apple devices.

HomeView can be pre-ordered now for ₹39,900 in silver, starlight, rose pink and space grey. The wall-mounted model costs the same, comes in silver and space grey, and needs a separately sold Schneider Home mount starting at ₹6,900. Both models go on sale in India on November 13.
