In a remarkable display of fielding prowess during the first ODI in Mumbai, India's Sneh Rana pulled off an extraordinary catch, leading to the dismissal of Australian captain Alyssa Healy. Rana, an all-rounder, executed a stunning full-length dive to her left at short third man, cutting short Healy's innings and providing Renuka Thakur with an early breakthrough in the match.

Healy, lured into playing an ambitious drive by Thakur's delivery, ended up edging the ball towards short third, resulting in her departure without contributing any runs to Australia's pursuit of a target of 283.

The match also saw significant contributions from India's side, with Jemimah Rodrigues scoring an impressive 82 and Pooja Vastrakar adding a rapid, unbeaten 62. Their efforts propelled the India Women's team to their highest ODI total against Australia, reaching 282/8. This score surpassed India's previous best of 281/4 in ODIs against Australia.

Rana experienced a less successful outing with the bat. Megan Schutt ensured that Rana's time at the crease was brief, dismissing her in the 38th over. Rana managed to score only a single run during her stint.
