BCB Hopeful Of India’s Bangladesh Tour Early Next Year After Talks

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is hopeful that India will travel to Bangladesh for a six-match white-ball series during the 2026-27 season, according to Cricinfo.

The proposed tour features three ODIs and three T20Is, with the two cricket boards currently discussing a possible window for the series.

BCB president Tamim Iqbal said on Monday that talks with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have been positive so far.

"All I can tell you is that both the cricket boards are in discussion. It is a fruitful talk, and I am hopeful this will happen," he said, as quoted by Cricinfo.

According to a Cricinfo report, the BCB has received an encouraging response from the BCCI, raising the possibility of the tour taking place early next year.

A BCCI source had earlier indicated that January could be considered for the series, although discussions with the Bangladesh government are still underway.

"The India-Bangladesh series is likely to be held in January. Discussions with the government are still ongoing, while the BCB is now seeking a window at the beginning of next year," the BCCI source told ANI.

The series was initially scheduled for August 2025 but was later pushed back to September 2026.

In January this year, the BCB announced that India would play three ODIs and three T20Is across Dhaka and Chattogram.

However, the September 2026 window was subsequently postponed following a deterioration in relations between the two cricket boards.

The BCCI has not yet made an official announcement confirming a new schedule for the tour.

Relations Between BCCI And BCB Had Tense Phase

The relationship between the two boards became strained after Kolkata Knight Riders released Bangladesh all-rounder Mustafizur Rahman from their Indian Premier League (IPL) squad following the BCB's announcement of the India series.

The dispute escalated further when the Aminul Islam-led BCB decided against sending Bangladesh to the T20 World Cup, which was co-hosted by India.

However, relations have appeared to improve since Tamim Iqbal became BCB president.

Earlier this month, Tamim travelled to India and reportedly visited the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.

His visit was seen as another indication that the relationship between the two boards could be improving.

With discussions now underway, the proposed six-match series could potentially return to the international calendar in early 2027.
