ICC Women's World Cup, AUS VS ENG: Nat Sciver's 148* go in vain as Australia win 7th World Cup title

Australian women's team won their record-extending 7th World Cup title after trouncing the defending champions England by 71 runs at the Hagley Oval in New Zealand on Sunday in the 50 over Women's World Cup.

The Meg Lanning-led Aussie women's team who were sent in to bat first wreaked havoc on the English bowling lineup as they posted the highest team total in the Women's World Cup final. Alyssa Healy went all guns blazing as she fired a brilliant knock of 170 off 138 which has become the highest individual score in the World Cup final in both men's and women's cricket. Healy was ably supported by Rachael Haynes and Beth Mooney who added 68 off 93 and 47-ball-62 respectively to make it a mammoth 357 run target for their opponents.

In reply, the English women's team had a herculean task at hand and the loss of wickets in regular intervals made it more than tough. Though Natalie Sciver posted a sensational unbeaten 148 off 121 balls, her monumental efforts served no purpose as she ran out of partners. While Jess Jonassen and Alana King took 3 wickets each, Megan Schutt got 2 as England were forced to wrap up their innings at 285 within 44 overs.
