Although Mumbai Indians generally have a slow start to their IPL campaigns, the team after 2 heartbreaking defeats back to back has dearly missed their ace batter, Suryakumar Yadav. While it was expected that he would play against RR, the 31-year-old did not appear for the match. After their 23 run loss vs RR, Rohit said that MI is not rushing Suryakumar back into action as they want to give him enough time to completely recover from the injury.

After losing their first game to DC by 4 wickets, Mumbai failed to chase down the 193 run target in their 2nd match, and despite Ishan Kishan and Tilak Varma's efforts the team lost its 2nd match of the season.
