Govt. urges avoiding tea, coffee as temperature rises, opt for these healthier alternatives for summer

Due to the rise in mercury level in many Indian cities, the government of India has advised avoiding alcohol, coffee, tea and aerated drinks, stating that consuming them can lead to greater fluid loss resulting in heat stroke. Alcohol and caffeine are diuretics, which can cause dehydration in the body.

Avoid tea, coffee and opt for these healthier alternatives

To beat the heat this summer, you can opt for healthy and hydrating drinks such as lemon water, coconut water and mint-lemon water. Eating seasonal fruits like watermelon, muskmelon and mango can provide essential nutrients to help you stay hydrated. Most importantly, try to consume 2.5 to 3 litres of water daily and have a balanced diet.

Healthy drinks in summers

Lemon Water: Refreshing and hydrating, lemon water provides a boost of vitamin C.

Coconut Water: Packed with electrolytes, coconut water is great for rehydration.

Mint-Lemon Water: Combining the refreshing flavors of mint and lemon with water for a cooling drink.

Cucumber Infused Water: Cucumber slices added to water offer a subtle flavor and hydration.

Iced Herbal Tea: Herbal teas like chamomile or peppermint, chilled and served over ice, are soothing and hydrating.

Watermelon Juice: Fresh watermelon blended into juice is hydrating and rich in vitamins A and C.
