In a major push for heritage, tourism, and wildlife conservation, the Punjab government has announced transformative plans to develop Nangal as a prominent tourist destination and to turn the Jhajjar Bachauli Wildlife Sanctuary in Sri Anandpur Sahib into an eco-tourism hotspot where visitors can observe leopards and other wildlife in their natural habitat, said Harjot Singh Bains, Education Minister and MLA from Sri Anandpur Sahib.

Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, while presenting the ‘Badalda Punjab’ Budget for 2025-26, highlighted the comprehensive development of Sri Anandpur Sahib constituency. A special budget has also been allocated for the grand preparations marking the 350th Martyrdom Anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji.

Harjot Singh Bains called the budget a landmark step, announcing that Nangal will be developed into a key tourist hub with an initial allocation of ₹10 crore. The initiative aims to enhance local attractions, improve facilities, and generate employment opportunities in the hospitality sector.

Additionally, he stated that Jhajjar Bachauli Wildlife Sanctuary in Sri Anandpur Sahib will be developed into an eco-tourism destination. “Once completed, it will become Punjab’s first wildlife sanctuary where visitors can spot leopards and other wildlife in their natural habitat,” he added.

Expressing gratitude to the Punjab government for allocating funds for the 350th Martyrdom Anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji, Bains emphasized that Sri Anandpur Sahib, a city of immense historical and religious significance, will receive special attention in infrastructure and cultural development to mark the occasion.
