Punjab targets 2,100 hectares for afforestation in 2025

The Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, remains dedicated to expanding the state's forest cover to promote a cleaner and greener environment.

To achieve this goal, the Forests and Wildlife Preservation Department, guided by Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak, is making significant efforts.

As part of the Punjab State Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority (PUNCAMPA) scheme, the Annual Plan of Operations (APO) for 2025-26 has been submitted to the National Authority in New Delhi for final approval after receiving clearance from the State Authority’s Steering Committee.

The plan includes afforestation on 2,100 hectares in 2025-26, following the successful plantation of 1,932 hectares in 2024-25.

As per the Compensatory Afforestation Fund Act, 2016, and the Compensatory Afforestation Fund Rules, 2018, formulated by the Union Government, the State Authority’s Annual Plan of Operation (CAMPA) undergoes approval from the Steering Committee before receiving final clearance from the National Authority, New Delhi.

Afforestation activities are carried out exclusively within designated forest areas as per the approved APO.
