PM Modi visits LNJP Hospital, meets survivors of Red Fort blast

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday visited the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) Hospital in Delhi to meet those injured in the Red Fort car blast, which claimed at least 12 lives and left several others wounded earlier this week.

The Prime Minister, who returned to the national capital on Wednesday afternoon after a two-day visit to Bhutan, drove directly to the hospital upon landing.

Officials said PM Modi interacted with the injured patients, enquired about their well-being, and wished them a speedy recovery. He was also briefed by doctors and hospital authorities about the condition of those under treatment and the medical assistance being provided.

Following his hospital visit, the Prime Minister is scheduled to chair a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) as well as a cabinet meeting at around 5:30 pm to review the overall situation in the aftermath of the explosion that has shaken the nation.

During his Bhutan visit, Prime Minister Modi had expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident and reaffirmed that those responsible would face the “strictest action.”

“The government will ensure that the culprits behind this heinous act are brought to justice,” PM Modi had said earlier, condemning the attack near Delhi’s Red Fort.

The high-intensity blast occurred on Monday evening near the Red Fort Metro Station, destroying multiple vehicles and leaving the area cordoned off as central agencies investigate possible terror links.
