Mani Ratnam-Kamal Haasan’s ‘Thug Life’ goes on floors; details of star-studded cast inside

Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam have joined hands for their upcoming film ‘Thug Life’. The shooting of the film has commenced today. The announcement was made by the makers in a video on X. Both Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam will be producing the film apart from donning the hat of director and actor. Actor Kamal Haasan will be playing the main role in the film along with a star-studded cast.

Director Mani Ratnam’s ‘Thug Life’ has increased the anticipation among the fans as the makers released a special video on commencement of the shooting. Mani Ratnam’s ‘Madras Talkies’ captioned the post, “An epic tale of power, rebellion, and triumph. #ThugLife shooting starts today!”

Besides Kamal Haasan, Dulquer Salmaan, Trisha Krishnan, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Joju George and Jayam Ravi will be seen in the key roles in this film. Written and directed by Mani Ratnam, ‘Thug Life’ is being produced jointly by Mani Ratnam’s Madras Talkies, Kamal Haasan’s Raaj Kamal Films International and Udhayanidhi Stalin’s Red Giant Movies. The makers are yet to announce a release date of the film. The film’s working title was ‘KH234’, signifying that it is Haasan’s 234th.

Both the Tamil legends, Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam are coming together after 36 years for this film. The duo had previously worked together in ‘Nayakan’, which turned out to be a huge success. Haasan had won the Best Actor award at India’s national film awards and the film was India’s entry to the 1988 Oscars. It’s a double treat for the fans as the film not only boasts of big stars but also music legend A R Rahman.
