Mumbai, Aug 19 (PTI) Actor Akshay Oberoi is set to appear alongside Kannada superstar Yash in the anticipated film "Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grownups". Initially starstruck, Oberoi found inspiration in Yash's dedication and humility.

"I've had the good fortune to work with Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan before collaborating with Yash. Despite Yash's immense popularity, he remains grounded, soft-spoken, and devoid of arrogance.

His rise from Mysore, with a bus conductor father, to superstardom is truly inspiring. Like everyone else, I was a fan of ‘KGF’. He has motivated me to think bigger about my career and aspirations," Oberoi expressed to PTI.

"Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grownups" is directed by esteemed filmmaker Geetu Mohandas, known for her films like ‘Liar’s Dice’ and ‘Moothon’. Produced by VN Productions and Monster Mind Creations, the movie is slated for release on March 19, 2026.

"Being directed by Geetu Mohandas is a wonderful experience. I am confident that 'Toxic' will be remarkable," Oberoi noted.

The 40-year-old actor is also anticipating the launch of another project, “Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari”, directed by Shashank Khaitan. Starring Varun Dhawan and Jahnvi Kapoor, this film will be released later this year on October 2.

Oberoi is optimistic that both “Toxic” and “Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari” will successfully engage a wide audience.

"Actors are dreamers. Over my 15-year career, I dream of every film succeeding. Facing countless uncertainties, maintaining a positive outlook is vital. By delivering our best work, I hope these films gain mass appeal and introduce my work to broader audiences, akin to what happened with ‘Fighter’," he earnestly stated.

Speaking at a retrospective dedicated to the legendary actor-filmmaker Guru Dutt, Oberoi revealed that greats like Dutt and Balraj Sahni inspired his venture into cinema.

"My father introduced me to Guru Dutt's films at a young age. Reading his biography recently, I got emotional and became a dedicated fan," he mentioned, encouraging the youth to explore Dutt's outstanding films such as “Pyaasa”, “Chaudhvin Ka Chand”, “Kaagaz Ke Phool”, “Aar Paar”, and “Mr. and Mrs. 55”.

Oberoi commended the NFDC and Ultra for their initiative on the Dutt retrospective.

Expressing admiration for Balraj Sahni, Oberoi remarked, "We tend to overlook him, yet he was a remarkable actor. Celebrating our icons, especially those who've passed, is crucial. Sahni departed too soon but left a significant impact worldwide, and we've somewhat forgotten him.”
