South Korea’s deepfake porn epidemic is getting bigger and scarier. Not only the common women and K-pop idols but even underage celebrities are falling victim to the deepfake porn menace.

K-drama star Park Gyu-young, known for her role in shows like ‘Squid Game 2’, ‘Sweet Home’, ‘A Good Day to Be a Dog’, and ‘It’s Okay Not to Be Okay’ has become the latest victim of the deepfake porn scandal.

Her agency sprang into action and said that they will respond to the matter with utmost seriousness. Saram Entertainment issued an official statement saying that they will take a firm stance against any illegal activities related to their actors.

The ‘New Nth Room’ revelations which involves telegram chatrooms for sharing private and pornographic videos of women have shocked the country and risen widespread concerns regarding women safety in South Korea.

More artists from the entertainment industry are being targeted by the illegal use of AI technology. It has led to agencies like JYP Entertainment, CUBE Entertainment, YG Entertainment and more to take a strong stand and announce legal action against the spread of deepfakes of their idols and artists.

Fans and women right activists are reacting strongly to the nationwide incidents of deepfakes and unwarranted breach of privacy of women. They are demanding for strict action against the disturbing trend.
