‘Squid Game:’ Netflix invites fans to participate in reality TV series with $4.56 million cash prize

Brace yourselves as ‘the biggest Netflix show’ is all set to become ‘the biggest reality series ever.’ Netflix has announced that it is going to recruit 456 participants for reality TV series inspired by the popular South Korean show ‘Squid Game.’ In a statement, the streamer said that the largest cash prize in reality TV history — $4.56 million (Rs 35.56 crores) will be offered— to one of the 456 contestants (the largest cast in reality TV history).
On Monday, Netflix confirmed that the popular show will be renewed for a second season with a short teaser featuring the animatronic doll which was a prominent part of the show's first season.
Hwang Dong-hyuk, the show's writer, director, producer, and creator, has declared the return of Gi-hun and The Front Man. He said that the man in the suit with ddakji might also be back. Fans will further be introduced to Young-hee's boyfriend, Cheol-su.
'Squid Game' is about hundreds of bankrupt contestants who compete in deadly games for a huge amount of money.
It became the first non-English series to be nominated at the Screen Actors Guild Awards in 2022, with actors Lee Jung-jae and Ho-yeon winning top honours. 'Squid Game' has also bagged three Golden Globe Awards, including best TV drama.
