Korean horror series ‘Hellbound’ ousts ‘Squid Game’ as Netflix’s No. 1 show

It’s official! Squid Game has been dethroned by fellow Korean series 'Hellbound' on Netflix.

In a little more than about 24 hours after its release, the Netflix original topped world rankings, an achievement that took Squid Game eight days. This sets a new record for a Korean series on the OTT giant.

Directed by Yeon Sang-ho, 'Hellbound' offers a supernatural take where angels and demons roam. It explores a world where executors are condemning people to Hell. Amid all the doom and gloom, a new religious group called the New Truth emerges to unearth the truth.

'Hellbound' explores faith, free will, divine justice, and tremendous sacrifice in the face of great odds. The show ends with a whopper of a final twist that promises a second season.

This new dystopian world in 'Hellbound' is based on the webtoon of the same name, critically acclaimed as ‘the most shocking piece of work in the history of webtoons.’

'Hellbound' is now streaming on Netflix.
