79-year-old Squid Game actor Oh Young Soo convicted for sexual harassment | Details inside

In a surprising round of news coming from South Korea, Squid Game actor Oh Young Soo has been convicted of sexual harassment. He is famous for portraying Oh Il Nam aka Player 001 in Squid Game. He also became the first South Korean actor to win a Golden Globe for his role as Oh Il-nam, the oldest participant in the competition. However, looks like the actor is in deep trouble now.

Oh Young Soo convicted for sexual harassment

In December 2021, a woman filed a complaint against the senior actor. Today, March 15, the court convicted the actor for the crimes, according to a report by BBC.

According to AFP, the judge said the victim's records of the assault and her claims were "consistent ... and appear to be statements that cannot be made without actually experiencing them".

For the uninitiated, a woman alleged that she was hugged and kissed on her cheek against her will. After a complaint was filed against him in 2021, Oh denied the charges, but as re-investigation commenced, all public advertisements in his name were taken down.

The Squid Game actor has been ordered to attend a 40-hour sexual violence treatment programme, sentenced to zero to eight months in prison and probation of two years. Oh has now a week to appeal.
