Adele pauses Munich concert to air Olympic Women’s 100m Final with Sha’carri Richardson | Watch

Adele stays in tune with the 2024 Olympics, even during her performances. On August 3, the ‘Easy on Me’ singer paused her concert in Munich to watch the women’s 100-meter final from Paris.

In a video shared on social media, Adele halted her show to catch the race and offer some words of encouragement to the athletes. The clip shows her walking to the back of the stage, turning away from the audience, as the jumbotron switched from her performance to the track race.

In the video, the Olympics announcer reveals that Julien Alfred of Saint Lucia won first place with a time of 10.72 seconds, followed closely by Sha’Carri Richardson from Team USA.

Seeing the results, Adele encouraged the audience with, ‘Let’s give her a round of applause!’ and added, ‘Let’s get on with the show. Fantastic, St. Lucia!’

In another clip from the concert, the 16-time Grammy winner commented on watching the Olympics. She joked, ‘... As I watched the world-class athletes, I’d think, 'Oh, that landing was a bit off, wasn’t it? Her legs weren’t completely straight.' Meanwhile, if I tried anything they do, I’d be dead.’

Adele’s fans also took delight in the special screening. The Munich audience stayed captivated by the screens as Julien Alfred of Saint Lucia clinched the gold medal, with Sha’Carri Richardson and Melissa Jefferson securing silver and bronze, respectively.

Adele had the Olympics on her mind throughout her opening night on August 2. She gave a shoutout to US gymnast Simone Biles for her multiple gold medals and praised the dedication and performances of the ‘world-class athletes.’

Adele began her 10-show residency in Munich on Friday, August 2. She will perform on selected days throughout the month at the open-air venue, which holds 80,000 people. This marks her first performance in mainland Europe since 2016, according to her residency website.
