Disney announced the return of Jimmy Kimmel&rsquo;s late-night show after its suspension under government pressure drew backlash over free speech, with Hollywood stars and civil rights groups condemning the move.

Jimmy Kimmel's late night talk show, which was abruptly pulled from the air last week after the US government threatened broadcasters, will be back on Tuesday, Disney announced Monday.
The sudden suspension by ABC, which is owned by Disney, came after conservative complaints about comments Kimmel had made in the wake of the shooting of Christian activist Charlie Kirk.
"Last Wednesday, we made the decision to suspend production on the show to avoid further inflaming a tense situation at an emotional moment for our country," said a company statement.
"It is a decision we made because we felt some of the comments were ill-timed and thus insensitive.
"We have spent the last days having thoughtful conversations with Jimmy, and after those conversations, we reached the decision to return the show on Tuesday."
Kimmel's abrupt disappearance from the airwaves, apparently after government pressure on broadcasters who distribute ABC, sparked fury in liberal America, with opponents saying Kimmel had been targeted because he is a frequent critic of President Donald Trump.
Trump had celebrated Kimmel's removal, calling it "Great News for America."
Opponents saw it as the latest step in creeping government control of free speech, which is an article of faith for many Americans as well as a right enshrined in the country's constitution.
Some on the political right were also uneasy, including people who regularly count themselves as Trump allies, like Ted Cruz, the conservative senator from Texas, and firebrand broadcaster Tucker Carlson.
Trump has repeatedly complained about negative media coverage of him, and last week said he thought it was "illegal."
 - FCC threat -
The Kimmel episode unfolded a week after Kirk, a close Trump ally, was shot dead on a Utah university campus, setting off a bitter battle over responsibility in deeply polarized America, with conservatives -- including Trump -- blaming "the radical left."
Authorities have charged 22-year-old Tyler Robinson and have not indicated they are looking for anyone else.
In his show-opening monologue last Monday, Kimmel said "the MAGA gang" was "desperately trying to characterize this kid... as anything other than one of them."
He then showed footage of Trump pivoting from a question about how he had been affected by Kirk's death to boasting about the new ballroom he is building at the White House, prompting laughter from the studio audience.
"This is not how an adult grieves the murder of somebody called a friend. This is how a four-year-old mourns a goldfish," Kimmel said.
Two days later, Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Brendan Carr threatened the licenses of ABC affiliates that broadcast Kimmel's show.
"I think it's past time these (affiliates) themselves push back... and say, 'Listen, we're not going to run Kimmel anymore until you straighten this out, because we're running the possibility of license revocation from the FCC,'" he told right-wing podcaster Benny Johnson.
Nexstar -- one of the country's biggest owners of ABC affiliate stations, which is in the middle of a multi-billion-dollar merger requiring FCC approval -- then announced it would be removing the show from its stations.
Sinclair, another media group that also yanked the show, said Monday it would not return it to the airwaves, despite Disney's announcement.
"Sinclair will be preempting Jimmy Kimmel Live! across our ABC affiliate stations and replacing it with news programming," the company said on social media, using an industry term for removing a show.
"Discussions with ABC are ongoing as we evaluate the show&rsquo;s potential return."
 - Hollywood stars -
Before Disney's about-face was announced on Monday, a constellation of Hollywood stars signed an open letter calling the decision to pull the show "a dark moment for freedom of speech in our nation (that is) unconstitutional and un-American."
"The government is threatening private companies and individuals that the President disagrees with. We can't let this threat to our freedom of speech go unanswered," said the letter by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).
Signatories to the letter included Marvel star Pedro Pascal, Tom Hanks, Jennifer Aniston, Meryl Streep and Robert De Niro.
After Monday's announcement the ACLU welcomed the news, saying: "ABC made the right call."

ABC suspended Jimmy Kimmel's late-night show indefinitely beginning Wednesday after comments that he made about Charlie Kirk's killing led a group of ABC-affiliated stations to say it would not air the show.
Kimmel, the veteran late-night comic, made several comments about the reaction to Kirk's assassination on &ldquo;Jimmy Kimmel Live!&rdquo; Monday and Tuesday nights, including that &ldquo;many in MAGA land are working very hard to capitalise on the murder of Charlie Kirk.&rdquo; ABC, which has aired Kimmel's late-night show since 2003, moved swiftly after Nexstar Communications Group said it would pull the show starting Wednesday. Kimmel's comments about Kirk's death &ldquo;are offensive and insensitive at a critical time in our national political discourse,&rdquo; said Andrew Alford, president of Nexstar's broadcasting division. Nexstar operates 23 ABC affiliates.
There was no immediate comment from Kimmel, whose contract is up in May 2026. ABC's statement did not cite a reason for why his show was preempted.
President Donald Trump celebrated ABC's move on the social media site Truth Social, writing: &ldquo;Congratulations to ABC for finally having the courage to do what had to be done.&rdquo; He also targeted two other late-night hosts, Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers, and said they should be cancelled too, calling them &ldquo;two total losers.&rdquo; In July, after CBS cancelled &ldquo;The Late Show With Stephen Colbert,&rdquo; Trump wrote on his social media platform: &ldquo;I absolutely love that Colbert got fired. His talent was even less than his ratings. I hear Jimmy Kimmel is next. Has even less talent than Colbert!&rdquo; Like Colbert, Kimmel has been consistently been critical of Trump and many of his policies.
In his monologue on Monday, Kimmel said that &ldquo;we hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterise this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it.&rdquo; Authorities say Tyler Robinson, 22, who is charged with killing Kirk, grew up in a conservative household in southern Utah but was enmeshed in &ldquo;leftist ideology.&rdquo; His parents told investigators he had turned politically left and pro-LGBTQ rights in the last year.
Utah records show he was registered as a voter, but not affiliated with either political party. His voter status is inactive, meaning he did not vote in two regular general elections. He told his transgender partner that he targeted Kirk because he &ldquo;had enough of his hatred.&rdquo; An audience was lined up outside the theater where &ldquo;Jimmy Kimmel Live!&rdquo; tapes when they were told Wednesday's show was cancelled.
&ldquo;We were just about to walk in &mdash; interestingly enough, they waited to pull the plug on this right as the studio audience was about to walk in,&rdquo; Tommy Williams, a would-be audience member from Jacksonville, Florida, told The Associated Press outside the theater. &ldquo;They didn't tell us what had happened. They just said that the show was cancelled.&rdquo; Williams said he was worried someone had been injured &mdash; until he saw that ABC had announced nearly at the same time online that the preemption was indefinite. Williams hadn't been aware of Kimmel's comments on Kirk, but sought them out after the announcement.
&ldquo;They didn't really seem to justify the means. It seemed to be a bit extreme. And it wasn't like insulting to, it really had nothing to do with Charlie Kirk at all. He didn't even mention anything ill about Charlie Kirk &mdash; it was about the shooter,&rdquo; Williams said.
Kimmel said that Trump's response to Kirk's death &ldquo;is not how an adult grieves the murder of someone he called a friend. This is how a 4-year-old mourns a goldfish, OK?&rdquo; He also said that FBI chief Kash Patel has handled the investigation into the killing &ldquo;like a kid who didn't read the book, BSing his way through an oral report.&rdquo; He returned to the topic on Tuesday night, mocking Vice President JD Vance's performance as guest host for Kirk's podcast.
He said Trump was &ldquo;fanning the flames&rdquo; by attacking people on the left. &ldquo;Which is it, are they a bunch of sissy pickleball players because they're too scared to be hit by tennis balls, or a well-organized deadly team of commandos, because they can't be both of those things.&rdquo; FCC Chairman Brendan Carr, a Trump appointee, called Kimmel's comments on Kirk some of the &ldquo;sickest conduct possible&rdquo; in an interview Wednesday morning with conservative podcaster Benny Johnson.
&ldquo;There are calls for Kimmel to be fired. I think you could certainly see a path forward for suspension over this,&rdquo; Carr said.
Carr said it appeared to be an &ldquo;intentional effort&rdquo; to mislead the public that Charlie Kirk's assassin was a right-wing Trump supporter.
The conservative group interest group Center for American Rights cited Carr's comments in lodging a complaint Wednesday against ABC in addition to a prior complaint from early September accusing ABC of political bias. They wrote in the complaint that Kimmel showed a &ldquo;reckless indifference or willful defiance of facts&rdquo; and asked the commission to take ABC off air, if ABC did not take Kimmel off air first.
FCC Commissioner Anna Gomez criticised the administration for &ldquo;using the weight of government power to suppress lawful expression&rdquo; in a post on X.
The move comes as the president, his administration and political party have stepped up their effort to police speech about Kirk's death. Vance earlier this week urged Americans to turn in fellow citizens who mocked the assassination. It is also the latest effort by the administration to use its power to lean on the media. Carr has launched investigations of outlets that have angered Trump and the president has sued numerous media organisations for negative coverage.
CBS said this past summer that it was cancelling Colbert's show at the end of this season for financial reasons, although some critics have wondered if his stance on Trump played a role. Soon after the cancellation, the FCC approved CBS parent company Paramount's long-pending deal with Skydance. ABC parent company Disney is currently awaiting regulatory approval for ESPN's acquisition of the NFL Network.

'Adolescence,' 'The Studio' dominate television's Emmy Awards

Searing teen murder saga "Adolescence" was the big winner at Sunday's Emmy Awards, claiming eight prizes including best limited series, while "The Pitt" prevailed in a tight race for best drama at television's equivalent of the Oscars.
Seth Rogen's Hollywood satire "The Studio" dominated the comedy categories, earning best series honors and an overall total of 13 Emmys -- a new record for comedies.
"Adolescence" was arguably 2025's most talked-about TV hit. The British series for Netflix is the grim cautionary tale of a fictional 13-year-old schoolboy arrested on suspicion of murdering a female classmate with a knife.
Its examination of toxic masculinity among young boys, and the horrific messages they are exposed to via smartphones and social media, prompted debate around the world.
"We never expected our little program to have such a big impact," said co-creator Stephen Graham, who plays the teen suspect's father.
The series earned a whopping 140 million views in its first three months on Netflix. Each of its four episodes are shot in a single take.
"Adolescence" won a total of eight Emmys including best limited series -- awarded to shows that end after one season -- as well as prizes for writing, directing, lead actor, supporting actress and supporting actor.
The latter went to 15-year-old Owen Cooper, who became the youngest ever male actor to win an Emmy.
"Honestly, when I started these drama classes a couple years back, I didn't expect to be even in the United States, never mind here," he said.
 - 'The Pitt' triumphs -
"The Pitt" won best drama series -- the night's final prize, and arguably its most surprising moment.
It is a medical drama reminiscent of "ER," with the twist that all 15 episodes are set consecutively during the same unbearably stressful shift at an inner-city Pittsburgh hospital.
Tackling everything from abortion rights to mass shootings, "The Pitt" received little fanfare on its initial release but became a word-of-mouth sensation.
"ER" veteran Noah Wyle won best drama actor for his performance as the emergency room's haunted leader.
"Anybody who is going on shift tonight or coming off shift tonight, thank you for being in that job -- this is for you," he said.
Katherine LaNasa also won best supporting actress.
Pundits had considered the race too close to call, with sci-fi office thriller "Severance" considered difficult to beat.
A psychological drama set largely in the near-future offices of a shadowy corporation, it had the most nominations of any show this year with 27.
The premise: the "innie" employees of Lumon Industries quite literally leave their outside lives, memories and personalities at the door, thanks to a dystopian new mind-splitting technology.
Its star Britt Lower won best actress and Tramell Tillman won for best supporting actor.
 - 'I am paying' -
"The Studio" -- both a love letter to the industry, and a searing send-up of its many hypocrisies, insecurities and moral failings -- was named best comedy series.
Rogen, its co-creator, won best actor for his role as a floundering movie executive. The show also claimed writing and directing prizes Sunday.
It had earned nine statuettes last weekend at a separate ceremony for the more technical Emmy categories.
The best comedy actress Emmy again went to Jean Smart -- her fourth for "Hacks." Hannah Einbinder finally won best supporting actress as the long-suffering assistant to Smart's late-night comedian.
Einbinder used her speech to describe the agency behind most of President Donald Trump's recent immigration raids with an expletive -- muted by broadcasting network CBS -- before adding "Free Palestine."
Television's equivalent of the Oscars had promised to steer clear of politics.
In one of the night's loudest moments, "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" won finally won best variety talk series. A staple of late-night US television, the show will end in 2026.
CBS has denied the cancellation is related to parent company Paramount's $16 million settlement with Trump. Colbert -- a regular critic of the US president -- had dubbed the payment "a big fat bribe."
Emmys host Nate Bargatze spent much of the evening focused on his novel initiative to keep winners' speeches short.
The comedian pledged to donate $100,000 of his own money to the Boys &amp; Girls Clubs of America.
The catch? He deducted $1,000 for every second that a winner's acceptance speech exceeds the allotted 45 seconds -- and add money back on for speeches that run short.
"Don't go crazy, because I am paying for this," quipped Bargatze.
A money counter ran on-screen for much of the gala, but was quietly removed as the evening wore on. The show ended with Bargatze and others pledging large donations that more than covered any deductions.

"As filmmakers, actors, film industry workers, and institutions, we recognize the power of cinema to shape perceptions. In this urgent moment of crisis, where many of our governments are enabling the carnage in Gaza, we must do everything we can to address complicity in that unrelenting horror," the statement read.
"Standing for equality, justice, and freedom for all people is a profound moral duty that none of us can ignore. So too, we must speak out now against the harm done to the Palestinian people," it added.
The pledge further requested the international film industry to stand against racism and dehumanisation and to do "everything humanly possible" to end the complicity in the oppression of the Palestinian people.
In 2024, a similar pledge was signed by over 7000 authors and book workers to boycott "complicit" Israeli publishing houses. Some of the signatories included winners of the Nobel Prize, Booker Prize, Pulitzer Prize, Giller Prize, MacArthur Fellowship, Miles Franklin Award, and National Book Award, including three winners, Percival Everett, Lena Khalaf Tuffaha, and Shifa Saltagi Safadi. Hollywood star Mark Ruffalo is in talks to return for the role of Hulk in the upcoming installment of the "Spider-Man" franchise.
According to the entertainment news outlet The Hollywood Reporter, Ruffalo will reprise the role of Bruce Banner/ Hulk in the film.
The 57-year-old actor, also known for starring in projects such as "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind", "Rumor Has It", and "13 Going on 30", essayed the role of Hulk for the first time in the 2012 Marvel film "The Avengers".
He went on to reprise the role in several projects, including "Avengers: Age of Ultron" (2015), "Thor: Ragnarok" (2017), and "Avengers: Infinity War" (2018), among others.
"Spider-Man: Brand New Day" stars Tom Holland in the titular role alongside Zendaya. The film is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton. It is set to release in theatres on July 31, 2026.
The plot details are being kept under wraps.

It has been almost six decades for Hollywood star Harrison Ford in the industry, but he has no plans to retire and believes there are parts for all ages to play when it comes to acting.
The 83-year-old actor made his debut in 1966 with "Dead Heat on a Merry-Go-Round" and has numerous projects to his credit, including "Blade Runner", "The Fugitive", "Star Wars", "Indiana Jones", and "American Graffiti", among others.
Asked if he has plans to retire anytime soon, Ford simply said "No".
"No. That&rsquo;s one of the things I thought was attractive about the job of an actor, was that they need old people, too, to play old people&rsquo;s parts," he told entertainment news outlet Variety in an interview.

"I don&rsquo;t think there&rsquo;s anything competitive about creativity, and I don&rsquo;t understand the need to compare and contrast one person&rsquo;s work to another&rsquo;s. If you like it, you like it; if you don&rsquo;t like it, look at something else," Ford said.
"I&rsquo;m grateful, but I would have done what I did &mdash; and I&rsquo;ll do what I&rsquo;m doing &mdash; regardless of whether it&rsquo;s deemed worthy of mention or not. Paul Thomas Anderson&rsquo;s comedy &ldquo;One Battle After Another&rdquo; sweeps multiple Golden Globes, while Timoth&eacute;e Chalamet, Jessie Buckley, and Netflix&rsquo;s &ldquo;Adolescence&rdquo; win big at the 83rd ceremony in Beverly Hills.

Paul Thomas Anderson's ragtag revolutionary saga &ldquo;One Battle After Another&rdquo; took top honours at Sunday's 83rd Golden Globes in the comedy category, while Chloe Zhao's Shakespeare drama &ldquo;Hamnet&rdquo; pulled off an upset over &ldquo;Sinners&rdquo; to win best film, drama.
&ldquo;One Battle After Another&rdquo; won best film, comedy, supporting female actor for Teyana Taylor and best director and best screenplay for Anderson. He became just the second filmmaker to sweep director, screenplay and film, as a producer, at the Globes. Only Oliver Stone, for &ldquo;Born on the Fourth of July&rdquo;, managed the same feat.
In an awards ceremony that went almost entirely as expected, the night's final award was the most surprising. While &ldquo;One Battle After Another&rdquo; has been the clear front-runner this awards season, most have pegged Ryan Coogler's Jim Crow-era vampire thriller as its closest competition.
But &ldquo;Hamnet&rdquo;, a speculative drama about William and Agnes Shakespeare based on Maggie O'Farrell's bestseller, won in the dramatic category shortly after its star, Jessie Buckley, won best female actor in a drama.
It was a banner night for Warner Bros, the studio behind &ldquo;One Battle After Another&rdquo; and &ldquo;Sinners&rdquo;. Warner Bros. Discovery has agreed to be sold to Netflix in an USD 83 billion deal. Paramount Skydance has appealed to shareholders with its own rival offer.
In his speech after winning best director, Anderson praised Warner co-chief Michael DeLuca.
&ldquo;He said he wanted to run a studio one day and let filmmakers make whatever they want,&rdquo; said Anderson. &ldquo;That's how you get 'Sinners'. That's how you get a 'Weapons'. That's how you get 'One Battle After Another'.&rdquo;
The final awards brought to, or near, the stage a handful of the most talented filmmakers together in Anderson, Zhao and Coogler &mdash; plus Steven Spielberg, a producer of &ldquo;Hamnet&rdquo;.
Regardless of who won what, it was a heartening moment of solidarity between them, with a shared sense of purpose. Zhao fondly recalled being at Sundance Labs with Coogler when they were each starting out.
&ldquo;As students, let's keep our hearts open and let's keep seeing each other and allowing each other to be seen,&rdquo; said Zhao, while Coogler smiled from the front row.
&ldquo;Sinners&rdquo; won for best score and cinematic and box-office achievement. The win for box office and cinematic achievement, over franchise films like &ldquo;Avatar: Fire and Ash&rdquo;, was notable for Coogler's film, a movie that some reports labelled a qualified success on its release.
Yet &ldquo;Sinners&rdquo; ultimately grossed USD 278 million domestically and USD 368 million worldwide, making it highest grossing original film in 15 years.
&ldquo;I just want to thank the audience for showing up,&rdquo; said Coogler. &ldquo;It's means the world.&rdquo;
Coming off years of scandal and subsequent rehabilitation, the Globes and host Nikki Glaser put on a star-studded ceremony that saw wins for the streaming sensation &ldquo;KPop Demon Hunters&rdquo; (best animated film, song), a meta triumph for Seth Rogen's &ldquo;The Studio&rdquo; and an inaugural award for podcasting that went to Amy Poehler's &ldquo;Good Hang&rdquo;.
Many of the Oscar favourites won. Timothee Chalamet won his first Golden Globe, for &ldquo;Marty Supreme&rdquo;, after four previous nominations. The 30-year-old is poised to win his first Oscar. Fellow nominees like Leonardo DiCaprio and George Clooney stood to applaud his win.
&ldquo;My dad instilled in me a spirit of gratitude growing up: Always be grateful for what you have,&rdquo; said Chalamet. &ldquo;It's allowed me to leave this ceremony in the past empty handed, my head held high, grateful just to be here. I'd be lying if I didn't say those moments didn't make this moment that much sweeter.&rdquo;
The Globes, held at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California, got underway with a pointedly political opening from host Nikki Glaser and an early award for the night's favourite, &ldquo;One Battle After Another&rdquo;.
Emceeing the show for the second straight year, Glaser kicked off the show with self-aware satire.
&ldquo;Yes, the Golden Globes, without a doubt the most important thing happening in the world right now,&rdquo; she said.
In a winning, rapid-fire opening monologue that landed some punch lines on the usual subjects &mdash; the age of Leonardo DiCaprio's dates, Kevin Hart's height &mdash; Glaser also dove right into some of her most topical material.
For the on-the-block Warner Bros, Glaser started the bidding at USD 5. Referencing the Epstein files, she suggested best editing should go to the Justice Dept.
The &ldquo;most editing&rdquo;, however, she suggested deserved to go to Bari Weiss' new CBS News &mdash; a dig at the Paramount Skydance-owned network airing the Globes.
Political tension and industrywide uncertainty were the prevailing moods heading into Sunday's awards. Hollywood is coming off a disappointing box-office year and now anxiously awaits the fate of one of its most storied studios, Warner Bros.
Following the fatal shooting of Renee Good in Minneapolis by a US Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer, several attendees wore pins reading &ldquo;Be Good".
The Globes, formerly presented by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, have no overlap or direct correlation with the Academy Awards.
After being sold in 2023 to Todd Boehly's Eldridge Industries and Dick Clark Productions, a part of Penske Media, the Globes are voted on by around 400 people. The Oscars are voted on by more than 10,500 professionals.
But in the fluctuating undulations of awards season, a good speech at the Globes can boost an Oscar campaign.
Winners Sunday included Rose Byrne (&ldquo;If I Had Legs I'd Kick You&rdquo;) for best female actor in a comedy or musical, and Wagner Moura, the Brazilian star of &ldquo;The Secret Agent&rdquo;, for best male actor in a drama.
Kleber Mendonca Filho's period political thriller also won best international film.
&ldquo;I think if trauma can be passed along generations, values can do,&rdquo; Moura said. &ldquo;So this to the ones who are sticking with their values in difficult moments.&rdquo;

Some celebrities donned anti-ICE pins at the Golden Globes on Sunday in tribute to Renee Good, who was shot and killed in her car by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer this week in Minneapolis.
The black-and-white pins displayed slogans like &ldquo;BE GOOD&rdquo; and &ldquo;ICE OUT&rdquo;, introducing a political angle into the awards show after last year's relatively apolitical ceremony.
Mark Ruffalo, Wanda Sykes, Jean Smart and Natasha Lyonne wore the pins on the red carpet, and other celebrities were expected to have them on display as well.
Since the shooting Wednesday, protests have broken out across the country, calling for accountability for Good's death as well as a separate shooting in Portland where Border Patrol agents wounded two people.
Some protests have resulted in clashes with law enforcement, especially in Minneapolis, where ICE is carrying out its largest immigration enforcement operation to date.
&ldquo;We need every part of civil society, society to speak up,&rdquo; said Nelini Stamp of Working Families Power, one of the organisers for the anti-ICE pins. &ldquo;We need our artists. We need our entertainers. We need the folks who reflect society.&rdquo;
Congress members have vowed an assertive response, and an FBI investigation into Good's killing is ongoing. The Trump administration has doubled down in defending the ICE officer's actions, maintaining that he was acting in self-defense and thought Good would hit him with her car.
Just a week before Good was killed, an off-duty ICE officer fatally shot and killed 43-year-old Keith Porter in Los Angeles. His death sparked protests in the Los Angeles area, calling for the officer responsible to be arrested.
The idea for the &ldquo;ICE OUT&rdquo; pins began with a late-night text exchange earlier this week between Stamp and Jess Morales Rocketto, the executive director of a Latino advocacy group called Maremoto.
They know that high-profile cultural moments can introduce millions of viewers to social issues. This is the third year of Golden Globes activism for Morales Rocketto, who has previously rallied Hollywood to protest the Trump administration's family separation policies.
Stamp said she always thinks of the 1973 Oscars, when Sacheen Littlefeather took Marlon Brando's place and declined his award to protest American entertainment's portrayal of Native Americans.
So, the two organisers began calling up the celebrities and influencers they knew, who in turn brought their campaign to the more prominent figures in their circles. That initial outreach included labour activist Ai-jen Poo, who walked the Golden Globes' red carpet in 2018 with Meryl Streep to highlight the Time's Up movement.
&ldquo;There is a longstanding tradition of people who create art taking a stand for justice in moments,&rdquo; Stamp said. &ldquo;We're going to continue that tradition.&rdquo;
Allies of their movement have been attending the &ldquo;fancy events&rdquo; that take place in the days leading up to the Golden Globes, according to Stamp. They're passing out the pins at parties and distributing them to neighbors who will be attending tonight's ceremony.
&ldquo;They put it in their purse and they're like, Hey would you wear this? It's so grassroots,&rdquo; Morales Rocketto said.
The organisers pledged to continue the campaign throughout awards season to ensure the public knows the names of Good and others killed by ICE agents in shootings.

Actress Erin Doherty added to the series&rsquo; accolades by winning Best Female Supporting Actor for a television series, while Stephen Graham won Best Male Actor in a Limited Series, Anthology Series, or Made-for-TV Movie for his portrayal of Jamie&rsquo;s troubled father.

According to PEOPLE, the platform went down shortly after the first four episodes of the final season were released at 5 pm PT on Wednesday, leaving fans unable to access the highly anticipated content. Millions of viewers, who had waited three years for the series&rsquo; conclusion, took to social media to vent their frustration. One fan tweeted on X, "NETFLIX FIX YOURSELF RIGHT NOW BRO, I'VE BEEN WAITING THREE YEARS." Another added, "OH MY GOD NETFLIX PLS FIX YOURSELF I WANNA WATCH."
Netflix confirmed that the issue was resolved quickly. A company spokesperson told PEOPLE, "some members briefly experienced an issue streaming on TV devices, but service recovered for all accounts within five minutes."
The crash came just hours after series co-creator Ross Duffer shared on Instagram that Netflix had already increased its server capacity, claiming the platform had "increased bandwidth by 30 per cent to avoid a crash."
Season 5 marks the final chapter of the hit sci-fi series. The new episodes pick up in fall 1987, following a smaller time jump than fans expected after Season 4, which was set in spring 1986. The concluding storyline will see the Hawkins crew confront the "Upside Down" one last time.

And that is why it matters, that is why it matters to me. So making films is not what I do, it is who I am," he said.
Cruise said he still remembers when he fell in love with films and how they ignited a "hunger" within him. "My love for cinema began at a very early age, as early as I can remember...I was just a little kid in a darkened theater, and I remember that beam of light just cut across the room, and I remember looking up, and it seemed to be just exploded on the screen. Jimmy Kimmel returned to late-night television after a nearly weeklong suspension and, in an emotional monologue where he appeared close to tears, said that he wasn't trying to joke about the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
&ldquo;I have no illusions about changing anyone's mind, but I do want to make something clear, because it's important to me as a human and that is, you understand that it was never my intention to make light of the murder of a young man," Kimmel said on Tuesday night. "I don't think there's anything funny about it.&rdquo;&nbsp;
He added that he wasn't trying to blame any specific group "for the actions of what ... was obviously a deeply disturbed individual. That was really the opposite of the point I was trying to make.&rdquo;&nbsp;
He said he understood his remarks last week to some &ldquo;felt either ill-timed or unclear or maybe both.&rdquo; But he made no apologies. And he criticised the ABC affiliates who took his show off the air. Two stations groups that represent about a quarter of ABC stations, Sinclair and Nexstar, ordered their outlets not to show Kimmel.
&ldquo;That's not legal,&rdquo; Kimmel said. &ldquo;That's not American. It's un-American.&rdquo; The incident triggered a national discussion about freedom of speech and President Donald Trump's ability to police the words of journalists, commentators and even comics.
ABC suspended Kimmel's show last Wednesday following criticism of his remarks about the aftermath of Kirk's killing. But the network brought him back following a backlash against parent company Disney.
Kimmel thanked many supporters, including fellow late-night hosts past and present and even a former boss at a radio station in Seattle who checked in with him last week. He also singled out people he knows aren't fans of his comedy but stood up for his right to speak, including Texas Senator Ted Cruz.
"It takes courage for them to speak out against this administration," he said. "They did and they deserve credit for it.&rdquo; Kimmel nearly broke down again in praising Kirk's widow, Erica, who publicly forgave her husband's killer.
&ldquo;That is an example we should follow,&rdquo; he said. &ldquo;If you believe in the teachings of Jesus as I do, there it was... A selfless act of grace, forgiveness from a grieving widow. It touched me deeply. And I hope it touches many. And if there's anything we should take from this tragedy to carry forward, I hope it can be that. And not this.&rdquo; Kimmel admitted that he was mad when ABC suspended him, but praised his bosses for putting him back on the air. &ldquo;Unjustly, this puts them at risk.&rdquo; He mocked Trump for criticising him for bad ratings. &ldquo;He tried his best to cancel me and instead he forced millions of people to watch this show,&rdquo; Kimmel said.
The decisions by Sinclair and Nexstar left ABC stations in Washington, DC; St. Louis; Nashville, Tennessee, and Richmond, Virginia among the cities airing something else.

Kimmel's suspension came after an angry reaction to comments he made in monologues early last week. A relentless Trump critic in his comedy, Kimmel suggested that many Trump supporters were trying to capitalize on Kirk's death and were &ldquo;desperately trying to characterise this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them.&rdquo; Trump-appointed Federal Communications Commission Chairman Brendan Carr last week said it appeared that Kimmel was trying to &ldquo;directly mislead the American public&rdquo; with his remarks about Tyler Robinson, the 22-year-old Utah man charged with Kirk's killing, and his motives. Those motives remain unclear.
Authorities say Robinson grew up in a conservative family, but his mother told investigators his son had turned left politically in the last year.
&ldquo;We can do this the easy way or the hard way,&rdquo; Carr said before ABC announced the suspension. &ldquo;These companies can find ways to change conduct, to take action, frankly, on Kimmel, or there is going to be additional work for the FCC ahead.&rdquo; Those remarks were key to the backlash, with Cruz saying that Carr acted like &ldquo;a mafioso.&rdquo; Hundreds of entertainment luminaries, including Tom Hanks, Barbra Streisand and Jennifer Aniston, signed a letter circulated by the American Civil Liberties Union that called ABC's move &ldquo;a dark moment for freedom of speech in our nation.&rdquo; Podcaster Joe Rogan weighed in Tuesday on Kimmel's side. &ldquo;I definitely don't think that the government should be involved -- ever -- in dictating what a comedian can or can't say in a monologue,&rdquo; Rogan said. &ldquo;You are crazy for supporting this because this will be used on you.&rdquo; Some consumers punished ABC parent Disney by cancelling subscriptions to its streaming services.

De Niro, as Carr, said the FCC had a new motto, &ldquo;sticks and stones can break your bones.&rdquo; Isn't there more to the saying, Kimmel asked, that words can never hurt you? &ldquo;They can hurt you now,&rdquo; De Niro responded, saying you have to make sure to say the right ones.
