‘Tejas’ box office: 50% shows of Kangana Ranaut starrer cancelled; exhibitors say 'no one has come'

Kangana Ranaut starrer ‘Tejas’ was released in cinemas on October 27 and it received mixed reviews from the critics as well as the audience.

The action thriller film has failed to leave a mark at the box office and its lifetime collections are likely to be less than Rs 10 crores.

Recently, several exhibitors from across the country opened up about ‘Tejas’ debacle and shared that they cancelled 50 percent of their shows because of low occupancy.

Manoj Desai, the owner of Mumbai’s iconic Gaiety Galaxy, called the response to Kangana Ranaut starrer ‘worse’.

He told Bollywood Hungama, ‘On Sunday, we managed to get 100 viewers.

For the rest of the shows, the number of moviegoers was less than 100.’

Desai added that even though he has decided to continue playing ‘Tejas’ on the weekdays in Gaiety, the film will not be played in the smaller audis.

‘The occupancy was bad even on a Sunday. There are hardly 10-12 people in each show. From Monday, more than 50% of shows are discontinued,’ another exhibitor told the entertainment portal.

Vikrant Massey’s ‘12th Fail’, which was released on the same day, is doing better business.

‘Tejas’ marks Kangana Ranaut’s fifth flop in a row after ‘Dhaakad’ (2022), ‘Thalaivii’ (2021), ‘Panga’ (2020) and ‘Judgementall Hai Kya’ (2019).

Kangana’s recently released ‘Chandramukhi 2’ earned nearly Rs 40 crore.

About ‘Tejas’

Kangana plays the role of an Air Force pilot who is on a mission to fight terrorism in the movie.

Produced by RSVP, the film boasts a talented ensemble cast, including Anshul Chauhan, Varun Mitra, Ashish Vidyarthi, and Vishak Nair in pivotal roles.

The movie is directed by Sarvesh Mewara and produced by Ronnie Screwvala.

Kangana’s next project

Kangana will next be seen in ‘Emergency’. The film will be released next year.
