Shubh breaks silence after being slammed for 'glorifying Indira Gandhi's killers': 'stop spreading hate'

Punjabi singer Shubh has issued a statement on his viral hoodie controversy from one of his concerts. He took to Instagram Stories and urged everyone to stop spreading hate.

Shubh clarified that a lot of things were thrown at him during his first show in London including clothes and jewellery. He shared that he could not see what was thrown at him or imprinted on it.

'No matter what I do, some people will find something to bring it against me. A lot of clothes, jewellery and phones were thrown at me by the audience at my first show in London. I was there to perform, not to see what got thrown at me and what is on it. The team has worked very hard for the last couple of months to perform for you all. STOP SPREADING HATE AND NEGATIVITY,' Shubh wrote.

For the unversed, Shubh faced major backlash after it was reported that the singer 'glorified Indira Gandhi's killers by wearing a hoodie with a pic and date of her assassination.' But a Free Press Journal claimed that the hoodie had a map of Punjab printed on it with a clear outline of its districts.

Kangana slammed singer

Earlier, Kangana Ranaut slammed Shubh for allegedly glorifying former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s killers.

'Celebrating the cowardly killing of an old woman by those who she appointed as her saviours. When you are trusted to protect but you take advantage of the trust and faith and use the same weapons to kill the ones were suppose to protect then it’s a shameful act of cowardice not of bravery,' Kangana wrote.

'One must be ashamed of such a cowardly attack on an elderly lady who was disarmed and unaware, a lady who was the chosen leader of a democracy, nothing to glorify here Shubham ji. Shame!!!' she added.

Earlier controversy

Shubh was earlier scheduled to perform in Mumbai as part of the Cruise Control 4.0 event, organized aboard the Cordelia Cruise. He also had a three-month-long tour in India under which he was supposed to perform in several other cities including New Delhi, Bengaluru and Hyderabad. His tour was cancelled after his alleged support to separatist Khalistani elements.
