<p>IMDb&rsquo;s 2025 rankings crown "Saiyaara" as the most popular Indian film and Aryan Khan&rsquo;s "The Ba**ds of Bollywood" as the top web series, reflecting global audience interest and engagement across languages and genres.</p>

<p>"Saiyaara", starring newcomers Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, has topped IMDb&rsquo;s list as the most popular Indian film of 2025, while Aryan Khan&rsquo;s directorial debut "The Ba****ds of Bollywood" led the rankings among web series, the platform announced on Wednesday.</p>
<p>IMDb, one of the most popular online resources for information related to films, television series and artists, released its list of most popular Indian movies and series. The rankings are based on page views from IMDb&rsquo;s more than 250 million monthly global visitors, making them a reflection of audience interest and worldwide engagement, the company said in a statement.</p>
<p>At the top of the IMDb Top 10 Most Popular Indian Movies of 2025 is Saiyaara, produced by YRF and directed by Mohit Suri. The film has become a global talking point for its emotional storytelling and chartbuster music.</p>
<p>Akshaye Widhani, CEO of Yash Raj Films, said the recognition is a &ldquo;moment of immense pride&rdquo;.</p>
<p>&ldquo;'Saiyaara' has connected with audiences across India and the world, cutting across geography, age, and culture. We are hugely grateful that it has become one of the most iconic films for YRF and for the industry... Mohit Suri brought a clear vision and deep emotion to the film, while Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda delivered confident, heartfelt debut performances," Widhani said.</p>
<p>Other films on the list include the animated blockbuster "Mahavatar Narsimha" (No. 2), Vicky Kaushal's "Chhaava" (No. 3), Rishab Shetty&rsquo;s "Kantara: A Legend &ndash; Chapter 1" (No. 4), and Rajinikanth&rsquo;s "Coolie" (No. 5). The list features five Hindi titles, two Tamil films, and one each from Kannada and Malayalam cinema.</p>
<p>At the sixth spot was the Tamil coming-of-age comedy "Dragon", followed by Aamir Khan&rsquo;s "Sitaare Zameen Par" and Shahid Kapoor&rsquo;s "Deva" in the seventh and eighth positions. Ajay Devgn&rsquo;s "Raid" 2 and Malayalam title "Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra" rounded off the list.</p>
<p>"Mahavatar Narsimha" is also the first animated film to make it to IMDb&rsquo;s year-end Indian rankings.</p>
<p>Topping the series list was Aryan Khan&rsquo;s "The Ba**ds of Bollywood".</p>
<p>&ldquo;Seeing the show at No. 1 feels exactly like what we wanted to do - shake the room and own the conversation. The memes, the fan edits, the arguments, the obsession - that&rsquo;s a show becoming part of culture, not just a weekend watch.&rdquo; He added that the response affirms his instinct to tell stories &ldquo;with no soft edges, no pretending," Aryan, son of superstar Shah Rukh Khan, said.</p>
<p>Filmmaker Vikramaditya Motwane's "Black Warrant" and Sudip Sharma's "Paatal Lok" season two followed in second and third place, while fan favourites "Panchayat" Season 4 took the fourth spot.</p>
<p>Psychological thrillers "Mandala Murders" and "Khauf" ranked fifth and sixth, respectively, ahead of "Special Ops Season 2" and "Khakee: The Bengal Chapter", with the newest seasons of "The Family Man" and "Criminal Justice" rounding off the top 10.</p>
<p>The series list is dominated by crime thrillers, with seven of the ten titles belonging to the genre. It also features a strong presence from streaming platforms: four titles each from Netflix and Prime Video, and two from JioHotstar.</p>
<p>Yaminie Patodia, head of IMDb India, said this year&rsquo;s selections highlight a period of exceptional creativity across languages and formats.</p>
<p>&ldquo;The diverse range of storytelling, spanning from romance to animation, superhero epics to satire, reflects the industry&rsquo;s vibrancy. It is especially exciting to see distinctly Indian stories and cultural narratives resonating with audiences around the world," Patodia said.</p>

<p>Dharmendra was admitted to the hospital on November 10 and was reported to be in the critical condition.</p>
<p>On November 11, several media houses reported his death, leading to a sharp rebuke from Malini.</p>
<p>"What is happening is unforgivable! How can responsible channels spread false news about a person who is responding to treatment and is recovering? This is being extremely disrespectful and irresponsible. Please give due respect to the family and its need for privacy," she had posted on X.</p>
<p>A day later, he was discharged and taken to his Juhu home, where he breathed his last. The actor was cremated at the Pawan Hans crematorium in Vile Parle, Mumbai.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Bollywood stars Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol huddled under an umbrella on a rainy Thursday in London to unveil their bronze likeness from an iconic &lsquo;Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge&rsquo; scene.</p>
<p>The sculpture of the duo joins Leicester Square&rsquo;s &lsquo;Scenes in the Square&rsquo; trail depicting memorable shots from some of the world&rsquo;s most famous films, with &lsquo;DDLJ&rsquo; marking a Bollywood first and the 30th anniversary of the 1995 box-office hit. It is in this popular London square that SRK as Raj and Kajol as Simran first cross paths unknowingly.</p>
<p>&ldquo;DDLJ was made with a pure heart. We wanted to tell a story about love, how it can bridge barriers and how the world would be a better place if it had a lot of love in it, and I think this is why 'DDLJ' has had a lasting impact for over 30 years now," said Khan.</p>

<p>Aditya Chopra reprised his role as director of the English language stage production, &lsquo;Come Fall In Love &ndash; The DDLJ Musical&rsquo;, which revolved around the love story of Simran and Roger.</p>
<p>The script was a nod to the original as it followed Simran as a young British Indian woman who finds herself engaged to a family friend in India in an arranged marriage. However, the plot thickens when she falls in love with a British man named Roger.</p>

<p>Earlier, the makers had released the romantic track &lsquo;Gehra Hua&rsquo;, crooned by Arijit Singh, which showcased the on-screen chemistry between Ranveer Singh and Sara Arjun.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Meanwhile, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has given the green signal to the Ranveer-starrer spy thriller after addressing concerns raised by the parents of Ashoka Chakra and Sena Medal awardee Major Mohit Sharma. <br><br>The CBFC clarified that the film is entirely fictional, with no direct or indirect resemblance to Major Sharma&rsquo;s life. It also highlighted that the film carries an explicit disclaimer stating that all characters, events, and storylines are fictitious and do not relate to any real persons, living or deceased.</p>
<p>Directed and written by Aditya Dhar, the spy-action thriller stars Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal. Produced by Jio Studios and B62 Studios, Dhurandhar is slated for a theatrical release on December 5, 2025.</p>

<p>IMDb&rsquo;s 2025 list of most popular Indian stars sees &ldquo;Saiyaara&rdquo; actors Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda leading, with Mohit Suri topping directors&rsquo; ranking. Actors like Aamir Khan and Rashmika Mandanna feature in top 10.</p>

<p>IMDb on Wednesday announced its list of the most popular Indian stars and directors of 2025, with "Saiyaara" actors Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda topping the annual ranking based on page views from more than 250 million monthly visitors to the platform.</p>
<p>Panday secured the No 1 position among actors, followed by co-star Aneet Padda, while filmmaker Mohit Suri, who directed "Saiyaara", led the inaugural Most Popular Indian Directors list, the company said in a press release.</p>
<p>Panday said he is deeply humbled by the recognition for his first film as an actor. "(It) is nothing short of a dream come true and a full circle Paulo Coelho moment. But truly, if anything, this recognition makes me a little more aware of the responsibility I have towards my craft, and at the same time, it excites me for what&rsquo;s to come," the actor said in a statement.</p>
<p>He credited Suri for his guidance and thanked producers Aditya Chopra and Akshaye Widhani, as well as casting director Shanoo Sharma, for their support. "I look forward to returning soon with my second film, and this honour is motivation enough to try and deliver a performance that will resonate deeply. I thank every single person from across the world who has supported me and rooted for me in 'Saiyaara'. I thank everyone for helping the stars align and giving me something I could cherish for a lifetime, but mainly, I thank everyone for allowing the grandson of a heart surgeon to be a vessel for love. There&rsquo;s nothing more poetic. All love here, always," he added.</p>
<p>Padda, who is set to headline Maddock Films' upcoming title "Shakti Shalini", said the success of "Saiyaara" had been &ldquo;life-changing&rdquo; and expressed gratitude to viewers across languages. "'Saiyaara' changed my life in ways I am only beginning to understand, and to know that people across countries and languages connected with my work means more to me than I can explain. This honour from IMDb feels like a gentle push toward everything I want to grow into: more clarity, more curiosity, and more craft. I am soaking all of this in as I step into my next film. Thank you for the love. It is the biggest fuel I have,&rdquo; she said.</p>
<p>Among actors, Aamir Khan, who returned to the big screen with "Sitaare Zameen Par", secured the third spot on the list, followed by "Homebound" star Ishaan Khatter at No. 4. Rising star Lakshya is placed fifth, while Rashmika Mandanna, at No. 6, featured on the back of a notably diverse slate across languages, including Hindi films "Chhaava", "Sikandar" and "Thamma," as well as her Telugu&ndash;Tamil bilingual projects "Kuberaa" and "The Girlfriend".</p>
<p>Kalyani Priyadarshan (No. 7), Triptii Dimri (No. 8), Rukmini Vasanth (No. 9) and Rishab Shetty (No. 10) rounded off the top 10.</p>
<p>Among filmmakers, Aryan Khan took the second spot with his debut show The Ba**ds of Bollywood. Lokesh Kanagaraj, Anurag Kashyap and Prithviraj Sukumaran followed, while R.S. Prasanna, Anurag Basu and Dominic Arun occupied the middle positions. Laxman Utekar and Neeraj Ghaywan, whose film Homebound is India&rsquo;s official entry to the 2026 Academy Awards, completed the top 10 directors ranking.</p>
<p>Yaminie Patodia, head of IMDb India, said the introduction of the directors&rsquo; list reflects a shift in audience engagement. &ldquo;In the 25 Years of Indian Cinema IMDb Industry Report, we highlighted the emergence of directors as the key architects of this new era of Indian cinema. <p>Aamir Khan said at IFFI 2025 that he never followed traditional rules of stardom and picked films purely based on personal excitement, even when they seemed impractical or risky.</p>

<p>I don't know how I became a star, says actor Aamir Khan, stressing that in his career of over 30 years, he did everything that broke the many "rules" of stardom.</p>
<p>Speaking at a session during the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI), the 60-year-old actor said his filmography comprises of films that were "impractical".</p>
<p>"I don't know how I became a star. By all logic, I should not have been a star. I broke all the rules and I made everything impractical. So, I feel grateful that I received so much respect and success. Otherwise, practically speaking, none of the steps I took were from the point of view of achieving success," Aamir said.</p>
<p>Whether it was "Sarfarosh", "Lagaan", "Ghajini", "Taare Zameen Par", or his latest "Sitaare Zameen Par", the actor said all of them were experimental and shouldn't have worked at the box office.</p>
<p>"In fact, almost every film I used to pick, I used to be like, 'I don't know whether this is going to work.' Like 'Sarfarosh' and 'Lagaan', when we were releasing the film, we had no idea if people are going to like it or not."</p>
<p>"Then 'Lagaan', there was even 'Dil Chahta Hai' which was very unusual for its time and now 'Sitaare Zameen Par', all these films that I have picked, they were not meant to be successful," he added.</p>
<p>During the session, titled "The Narrative Architect of Social Transformation", Aamir said he likes to "surprise my audience and myself" as an actor.</p>
<p>"I don't want to do the same thing again and again. It's just out of how I am as a personality that I have picked different scripts. And I have always gone with what excites me, personally."</p>
<p>Aamir said these days a lot of film people tend to try and second guess the audience.</p>
<p>"They are like, 'What is it that I should make today?' The obvious answer is what people are watching and what are the films running nowadays in the market. So, you try and make that genre."</p>
<p>"If it's action, you make action. If it's comedy, you try and pick up a comedy film. But I have never thought that way. I have not been able to think that way. I pick films based on my own personal excitement towards the story. And most often, that goes against what is the norm at that time."</p>
<p>Aamir said when he did "Ghajini" in 2008, action films were not being made in the industry.</p>
<p>"Everyone told me that, 'Man, you are doing action now. Action films are not running nowadays.' So, 'Ghajini' came in and with it, action came in to fashion," he said.</p>
<p>Aamir's last release was "Sitaare Zameen Par", which released in theatres in June, followed by its digital release on YouTube under pay per view model.</p>
<p>Directed by R S Prasanna, the movie featured Aamir as Gulshan, an assistant coach of a major basketball team. After being fired from his job, he is ordered to either go to jail or do 90 days of community service as the coach of a team of specially-abled basketball players.</p>
<p>Aamir said he was surprised by the success of the film, which earned over Rs 250 crore at the box office.</p>
<p>"The audience has proved everyone wrong in the way the film got a reaction. The kind of love and respect the film got was unprecedented. So, I am really happy that audiences don't only want to watch one kind of film."</p>
<p>"At the end of the day, it doesn't matter what genre you are making it, what genre you are working in, but every film that you make has to be really hitting on the right notes. So, even if you are making an action film, at the end of the day, you need a good story for that."</p>
<p>Aamir's films have often been praised for providing entertainment with a dose of message, whether it was "Sitaare Zameen Par", which spoke about neurodivergent children or his earlier films like "Taare Zameen Par", "Dangal" and "3 Idiots".</p>
<p>The actor, however, stressed that he is not someone who picks up social causes actively.</p>
<p>"I am not an activist and nor am I someone who is interested in actively taking up issues. That's not me. What is me is storytelling, what is me is films. That's my world. And I am very sharply aware that when a person comes to a cinema hall, he or she is not coming there for a lesson in sociology. For that, they would go to a college," he said.</p>
<p>His first and primary responsibility is to entertain audiences and Aamir said he is aware of that.</p>
<p>"But the word entertain is not just make you laugh. I can make you cry also and entertain you. Basically, I want to engage you in one way or the other. I can scare you by making a horror film. I can make a suspense thriller. I can make a family drama. I can make different genres."</p>
<p>The actor said he is now looking for his next film.</p>
<p>"I am deciding which one to do. So, I am not thinking and have never thought that which is the next social topic I should pick up. That does not occur to me at all. So, the first attraction for me is the great script. And if that great script is also telling us something which is socially relevant, it's all the better. But I am not trying to look for social themes," Aamir said.</p>

<p>New Delhi [India], September 12 (ANI): The Delhi High Court has passed an interim order protecting the personality rights of Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan by restraining various entities from misusing his image, name, voice or other elements of his persona for monetary gains without his consent or authorisation.<br>The Court prohibited the respondents from misusing his name, image, voice, acronym, likeness, or any attributes uniquely identifiable with him.<br>The Court passed an ex parte ad interim injunction after noting that Bachchan had established a prima facie case. It held that the unauthorised exploitation or misappropriation of his personality attributes amounted to infringement and could mislead the public into believing that he was endorsing the goods or services being circulated.<br>"The unauthorised misuse of Abhishek Bachchan's name and personality attributes constitutes infringement and creates confusion in the public perception of endorsement," the bench observed, adding that irreparable loss, damage, and injury would be caused to his economic interests, goodwill, reputation, and prestige if immediate protection was not granted.<br>The Court also restrained the defendants from disseminating any product or content through any medium, technology, or format that could result in dilution of Bachchan's public persona.<br>Justice Tejas Karia, while recording submissions from Bachchan's counsel, emphasised that platforms like Google could be directed to take down infringing content if URL-specific details were provided.<br>"We can ask Google to take down. But you have to give a URL specific to each defendant. YouTube, Amazon, and Flipkart are mentioned in the petition, but this order cannot be granted generally. It has to be divided defendant-wise," the judge clarified.<br>Bachchan is represented by a legal team led by Advocates Pravin Anand, Ameet Naik, Madhu Gadodia, Dhruv Anand, and others.<br>His recent plea had highlighted the circulation of manipulated videos, GIFs, and deepfakes based on his films, many of which included sexually explicit and defamatory material.<br>The petition also invoked Section 38B of the Copyright Act, 1957, arguing violation of his moral rights in performances and contending that the manipulated clips not only exploit his work but also lower his dignity by portraying him in false and unsavoury contexts.<br>The Court's order echoes its similar observations in the petition moved by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, which was heard on September 9.<br>Justice Karia indicated that her matter too would attract interim protection against misuse of her name, images, and AI-generated explicit content.<br>The Court noted that her case involved fraudulent merchandise and even impersonation in the name of a fake company, "Aishwarya Nation Wealth."<br>While the Court acknowledged the desirability of a single consolidated order, it stressed that reliefs had to be tailored defendant-wise, and takedown directions would require specific URLs or could otherwise be processed through the Blocking and Screening Instructions (BSI) framework.<br>The matter has been scheduled for further proceedings on January 15, 2026.
