R Madhavan's 'Rocketry' and other Indian films that will be premiered at Cannes 2022

R Madhavan's will be making his directorial debut with biographical drama, 'Rocketry'.

75th Cannes Film Festival commenced on May 17 and will be taking place till May 28. India has been announced as the ‘Country of Honour’ this year. Here is a look at the six Indian films that are being screened at the prestigious festival.

1) Rocketry – The Nambi Effect (Hindi, English, Tamil)
R Madhavan will be making his directorial debut with a biographical drama, ‘Rocketry’. The film is based on the life of ISRO scientist Nambi Narayanan. R Madhavan will be essaying the lead role in the film, which is slated to be release in theatres on July 1, 2022.

2) Godavari (Marathi)
Nikhil Mahajan’s 'Godavari' will also premiere at the Festival. The film revolves around the story of Nishikant Deshmukh and his family who are trying to cope with the death of their relatives. The film stars Vikram Gokhale, Neena Kulkarni and Jitendra Joshi in important roles. 'Godavari' was appreciated for its storyline and has been screened at several film festivals in India.

3) Alpha Beta Gamma (Hindi)
Helmed by debutant Shankar Srikumar, the film stars Nishan Nanaiah, Amit Kumar Vashisth, and Reena Aggarwal in pivotal roles. Written by Menka Sharma and Shankar, the romatic comedy follows the story of three people who get stuck together during the Covid-19 lockdown. The film premiered at the 52nd International Film Festival of India.

4) Boomba Ride (Mishing)
Biswajeet Bora’s directorial 'Boomba Ride' is a satire on the corruption of India's rural education system. It is based on a true story. Boomba, the only student in a government school, is the main character of the story. The film stars Sadagar Daw, Dipali Pegu and Hiranya Pegu.

5) Dhuin (Maithili)
Directed by Achal Mishra, 'Dhuin' revolves around a small-town theatre actor, who dreams of making it big in Mumbai. The movie stars Abhinav Jha, Bijay Kumar Sah and Prashant Rana.

6) Niraye Thathakalulla Maram (Malayalam)
Jayaraj's directorial 'Niraye Thathakalulla Maram' follows the story of an eight-year-old, Poonjan who plays a fisherman's son who earns a living by doing menial jobs and looking after his family. The film has been produced by Navneet films.
