‘Jawan’ snub at Filmfare Awards upsets Shah Rukh Khan fans, angry reactions flood social media

While Filmfare Awards 2024 concluded with full fanfare, but it has left fans of Shah Rukh Khan angry and disappointed. Marking a massive comeback at box office, Shah Rukh Khan delivered three big hits in 2023. His ‘Pathaan’, ‘Jawan’ and ‘Dunki’ combinedly minted over ₹ 2,660 crore worldwide and while it is a record in itself, Shah Rukh’s films failed to get him any Filmfare award.

SRK loses to Ranbir Kapoor

Shah Rukh Khan was nominated in the Best Actor In A Leading Role (Male) category for his films ‘Jawan’ and ‘Dunki’. Despite being the only actor nominated for 2 films in one category, he lost the award to Ranbir Kapoor who won it for his role in ‘Animal’. Apart from losing the Best Actor award, even Shah Rukh’s films did not manage to win any big award.

Fans upset with ‘Jawan’ snub

Fans of ‘Badshah’ are not happy with the big snub and are flooding the social media with comments expressing their angst and disappointment. Questions are being raised on the actor not getting any recognition at the Awards ceremony, despite being the most successful actor in 2023. ‘Badshah’ Khan who took a hiatus after his film ‘Zero’ failed at box office, had won his last Filmfare Award in 2011 for ‘My Name Is Khan’.

Other Awards to SRK’s films

The 69th Filmfare Awards which were held in Gujarat on Sunday, saw Shah Rukh’s films almost out of picture. While his film ‘Jawan’ received only 2 awards- ‘Best Action’ and ‘Best VFX’, ‘Pathaan’ could get only one award to singer Shilpa Rao for the song ‘Besharam Rang’. From Shah Rukh’s least earning film ‘Dunki’, Vicky Kaushal, who was also nominated for his film ‘Sam Bahadur’, received the award for the Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Male).
