Cannes 2022: Shaunak Sen's documentary ‘All That Breathes’ wins L'OEil d'Or Award

It is a proud moment for India as filmmaker Shaunak Sen’s 90-minute documentary, 'All That Breathes,’ wins the 2022 L'OEil d'Or award, also known as The Golden Eye award.
This award was created in 2015 by LaScam, a French-speaking authors’ society, in partnership with Cannes Film Festival.

‘All That Breathes,’ India’s only entry to the prestigious Cannes Film Festival this year, narrates the story of siblings Mohammad Saud and Nadeem Shehzad, residing in Delhi’s Wazirbad village, who rescue and medicate injured birds, specifically the Black Kites.

The film was selected as the winner by the jury, which included Ukrainian writer-director Iryna Tsilyk, French actor Pierre Deladonchamps, Polish filmmaker Agnieszka Holland, Moroccan writer-filmmaker Hicham Falah, and journalist Alex Vicente.

The film previously won the World Cinema honor for best documentary at the Sundance Film Festival, where it premiered.
Worldwide television rights for ‘All That Breathes’ was purchased by HBO Documentary Films
The L'OEil d'Or award includes a cash prize of 5,000 Euros.

Filmmaker Payal Kapadia won the award for her documentary ‘A Night of Knowing Nothing’ last year.
The 75th edition of the Cannes Film Festival, which commenced on May 17, concluded on Saturday.
