Bhuvan Bam files complaint as his deepfake video goes viral; urged his fans to be cautious

Popular content creator and actor Bhuvan Bam has filed a complaint regarding a deepfake video that recently went viral on social media. The video falsely depicted Bhuvan endorsing tennis betting through a specific bookie's predictions. Bhuvan swiftly took action by filing a formal complaint at the Oshiwara police station in Mumbai, highlighting the deceptive and scandalous nature of the deepfake video. Police authorities are currently investigating the incident.

Addressing the issue, Bhuvan Bam said, ‘I want to alert all my fans and followers about a deepfake video of me that is making rounds on social media. This video is completely fake and misguided, encouraging people to invest in tennis through predictions by a certain bookie. My team has already filed a complaint with the Oshiwara police station, and they are investigating the matter.’

He further urged his fans to be cautious. ‘I humbly request everyone not to fall for this video. Please stay safe and avoid making any investments that might lead to trouble or financial loss. It’s crucial to be vigilant and not get trapped by these deceitful baits,’ he added.

Other deepfake videos

Several Indian celebrities, including Radhmika Mandanna, Alia Bhatt, and Katrina Kaif, have voiced concerns after falling victim to deepfake videos. Recently, a morphed video of Ranveer Singh surfaced where he appeared to criticize the government during the Lok Sabha elections, but it was later clarified to be edited.

Prior to this, a deepfake video featuring Aamir Khan promoting a political party also circulated, prompting Mumbai police to register an FIR. Aamir Khan's spokesperson clarified that he has never endorsed any political party in his 35-year career, focusing instead on Election Commission public awareness campaigns.

‘We want to clarify that Mr Aamir Khan has never endorsed any political party throughout his 35-year career. He has dedicated his efforts to raising awareness through Election Commission public awareness campaigns for many past elections,’ Khan’s spokesperson said in a statement.
