Kangana Ranaut compares herself to Amitabh Bachchan, leaving netizens in splits

Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut on May 5 compared herself with Amitabh Bachchan during an election rally in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh. Kangana said she receives as much love and respect as her colleague and Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan.

During the address, Kangana said, 'Sara desh hairaan hai, chahe Rajasthan chali jaun, chahe mai West Bengal chali jaun, chahe mai Delhi chali jaun, chahe mai Manipur chali jaun, aisa lagta hai ki mano itna pyaar aur itna sammaan… Mein daave se keh sakti hu ke Amitabh Bachchan ji ke baad aaj kisiko industry me milta hai to wo mujhe milta hai.' (The whole country is surprised, whether I go to Rajasthan, West Bengal, New Delhi or Manipur, it feels like there is so much love and respect. I can confidently say that after Amitabh Bachchan, if anyone gets such love and respect in the industry, it’s me.)

The speech has now gone viral, with Ranaut facing severe trolling for her comments.

Several social media users wondered if teh actor was "high on something". One user asked if she was from Galgotias University.

Recently, students of Galgotias were seen protesting against inheritance tax. But when a reporter asked some questions about the tax, the students were left dumbstruck. Videos of the students' reactions soon became memes.

"She should start referring to herself in the third person like her master," read another comment.

Ranaut is the BJP candidate from Himachal Pradesh's Mandi and is up against Congress' Vikramaditya Singh. Mandi will go to polls in the seventh phase of Lok Sabha elections on June 1.
