The announcement was made by Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Ashwini Vaishnaw on social media platform X. &nbsp;"Mithun Da&rsquo;s remarkable cinematic journey inspires generations! Honoured to announce that the Dadasaheb Phalke Selection Jury has decided to award legendary actor, Sh. Mithun Chakraborty Ji for his iconic contribution to Indian Cinema," the minister wrote in the post.&nbsp;
The award will be presented to Mithun Chakraborty at the 70th National Film Awards ceremony on October 8, 2024. The three-member jury, comprising former Dadasaheb awardee Asha Parekh, actor-politician Khushbu Sundar and filmmaker Vipul Amrutlal Shah, selected Chakraborty for the prestigious honour.&nbsp;
Chakraborty&rsquo;s son Namashi Chakraborty said that his father is very happy about the Dadasaheb Phalke Award announcement. "We all are feeling very proud. He is in Kolkata, I just spoke to him. He is a self-made superstar and a great citizen. This was long, long overdue but I am so proud that he is finally being awarded with this honour," Namashi told PTI.&nbsp;
Mithun Chakraborty has starred in several iconic and hit films like &lsquo;Disco Dancer&rsquo;, &lsquo;Mrigayaa&rsquo; and &lsquo;Dance Dance&rsquo;. He made his acting debut with Mrinal Sen's 1976 film &lsquo;Mrigayaa&rsquo;, for which he won his first National Film Award for Best Actor. &nbsp;

Mithun Chakraborty, a seasoned actor, has been discharged from a Kolkata private hospital where he was admitted on February 10 due to severe chest pain. According to the most recent report from the PTI news agency, he left the hospital on February 12 afternoon. Emphasizing his well-being, Mithun stated that he was &lsquo;perfectly fine&rsquo; and intended to return to filming his forthcoming movies.
&lsquo;There is actually no problem, I am absolutely fine. I have to keep control of my food habits. Let&rsquo;s see; I may start working soon, maybe tomorrow,&rsquo; he said.&nbsp;
Mithun disclosed that he received a call from Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 11, during which he &lsquo;received a scolding&rsquo; for neglecting his health.
Previously, the hospital issued an official statement revealing that Mithun had been diagnosed with an Ischemic Cerebrovascular Accident (stroke) of the brain. A team of senior doctors and therapists assessed the veteran actor's health condition, conducting a range of clinical tests, including an MRI scan, according to a senior official at the medical facility.
The official statement read, &lsquo;Shri Mithun Chakraborty (73), National Award-winning actor, was brought to the Emergency Department of Apollo Multispeciality Hospitals, Kolkata, around 9.40 am with complaints of weakness in the right upper and lower limbs. Necessary laboratory and radiology investigations were carried out including an MRI of the brain. He has been diagnosed with an Ischemic Cerebrovascular Accident (Stroke) of the brain. Presently, he is fully conscious, well-oriented and has consumed soft diet. Shri Chakraborty is being further evaluated by a team of doctors including a neuro-physician, cardiologist and a gastroenterologist.&rsquo;
&lsquo;He is recuperating well, is fully conscious, well-oriented, active, and has consumed a soft diet. He will undergo certain investigations before his discharge,&rsquo; read the last update from the medical facility.
Mithun, who was recently named as one of the recipients of the Padma Bhushan Award in 2024, had joined the BJP party in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Kolkata's historic Brigade Parade Ground on March 7, 2021.

Now the hospital has released a statement and revealed that the actor suffered an Ischemic Cerebrovascular Stroke.&nbsp;

<h3>What is Ischemic Cerebrovascular Stroke?</h3>
An ischemic cerebrovascular stroke, commonly referred to as an ischemic stroke, is a medical condition in which the blood supply to a part of the brain is affected. This interruption is usually caused by a blood clot or atherosclerosis (the buildup of fatty deposits or plaques) in the blood vessels supplying the brain.
There are two types of strokes:
Thrombotic Stroke:
A thrombus or a blood clot forms in an artery, delivering blood to the brain, and resulting in a thrombotic stroke.
Embolic Stroke:
This type of stroke happens when a blood clot or other debris forms elsewhere in the body (often in the heart) and travels through the bloodstream until it gets attached to a small portion of the brain. This clot is called an embolus.
<h3>What are the symptoms of a stroke?</h3>
Some symptoms of stroke are abrupt numbness or paralysis in the arm, leg, or face (usually on one side of the body), disorientation, difficulty speaking, vision problems in one or both eyes, &nbsp;difficulty walking, and sudden, intense headaches.
<h3>Risk factors</h3>
Some risk factors are hypertension, diabetes, elevated cholesterol, smoking, obesity, irregular heartbeat, history of stroke, and age.

Now, the hospital has issued an official statement, revealing that he has been diagnosed with an ischemic cerebrovascular accident (stroke) of the brain.

In a statement, the hospital mentioned that Mithun Charakborty was brought to the hospital with complaints of weakness in his right upper and lower limbs. He is currently undergoing treatment under the supervision of a team of doctors, the statement added. Chakraborty was transferred from the ICU to a cabin for further care.
The official statement reads, "Shri Mithun Chakraborty (73), a National Award-winning actor, was brought to the Emergency Department of Apollo Multispeciality Hospitals, Kolkata, around 9.40 am with complaints of weakness in the right upper and lower limbs. In an exclusive conversation with Editorji, Mithun Chakraborty&rsquo;s son Namashi Chakraborty said that his father was doing absolutely fine and there was&nbsp;nothing to worry about. He said that his father was admitted for kidney stone, for which they have to do a laser surgery. He went on to say that people in the hospital have put the picture without their permission.

In an exclusive conversation with Editorji, Mithun Chakraborty&rsquo;s son Namashi Chakraborty gives an update about the actor&rsquo;s health. Namashi says, 'Daddy is absolutely fine. I know that his picture became viral, which created a panic situation.&nbsp; There is nothing to worry about.&nbsp; All is well. Dad was admitted last week and is discharged now. Dad is fine and is resting. He has kidney stone, for which we have to do a laser surgery. I think we will be doing this in the next two days. One shouldn&rsquo;t say this, but the people in the hospital have put the pictures without asking (us). Dad was taking rest and was sleeping, and these people clicked his photograph without asking.'
On the work front, Mithun Chakraborty was last seen in the film &lsquo;The Kashmir Files&rsquo;. He was also one of the judges in the TV reality show &lsquo;Hunarbaaz: Desh Ki Shaan&rsquo;. And as for Namashi Chakraborty, he will be soon making his Bollywood debut with &lsquo;Bad Boy&rsquo;.

‘A Thursday’ comes under the genre of Crime and Thriller. It stars Yami Gautam Dhar, Dimple Kapadia, Atul Kulkarni, Neha Dhupia, and Karanvir Sharma in pivotal roles. Naina Jaiswal (Yami), a playschool teacher, turns into a hostage-taker and abducts 16 children. Naina starts a series of demands that creates a rift in law and order, and she also takes the most prominent personality of the country in her clutches. While Dimple Kapadia plays the Prime Minister, Neha Dhupia plays a cop.

Rohan Sippy’s ‘Mithya’ is an adaptation of the 2019 British series ‘Cheat’ with starred Katherine Kelly and Molly Windsor. The psychological thriller drama stars Bollywood actor Huma Qureshi in the lead role. ‘Mithya’ also marks the debut of Bhagyashree’s daughter Avantika Dassani. Set in Darjeeling, the six-part dark and intense series follows the conflicted relationship between a Hindi literature professor Juhi, played by Qureshi, and her student Rhea.
