Mithun Chakraborty suffered brain stroke, hospital says veteran actor is 'fully conscious'

Veteran actor-turned-politician Mithun Chakraborty was rushed to the Apollo Hospital in Kolkata on Saturday morning after complaints of chest pain. Now, the hospital has issued an official statement, revealing that he has been diagnosed with an ischemic cerebrovascular accident (stroke) of the brain.

In a statement, the hospital mentioned that Mithun Charakborty was brought to the hospital with complaints of weakness in his right upper and lower limbs. He is currently undergoing treatment under the supervision of a team of doctors, the statement added. Chakraborty was transferred from the ICU to a cabin for further care.

The official statement reads, "Shri Mithun Chakraborty (73), a National Award-winning actor, was brought to the Emergency Department of Apollo Multispeciality Hospitals, Kolkata, around 9.40 am with complaints of weakness in the right upper and lower limbs. Necessary laboratory and radiology investigations were carried out, including an MRI of the brain. He has been diagnosed with an ischemic cerebrovascular accident (stroke) of the brain. Presently, he is fully conscious, well-oriented, and has consumed a soft diet. Shri Chakraborty is being further evaluated by a team of doctors, including a neurophysician, a cardiologist, and a gastroenterologist."

Mithun Chakraborty receives the Padma Bhushan honor

Recently, Mithun Chakraborty was conferred with the honorary Padma Bhushan Award for his excellent contribution to Hindi and Bengali cinema. The veteran actor took to his Instagram to share a video, expressing his gratitude upon receiving the honor.

On the film front, he was last seen in the Bangla film, 'Kabuliwala'.
