Spotify acquires a company that detects harmful content in podcasts

Spotify claims that Kinzen's technology, which is especially good for podcasts and other audio formats, will help it make its global platform safer for users.

Spotify acquires a company that detects harmful content in podcasts

Spotify has acquired Kinzen, an Irish startup that will assist it in detecting and removing harmful content from its platform. The deal amount has not yet been disclosed.

Spotify stated in a statement that Kinzen combines machine learning and human expertise to identify potentially hazardous content and hate speech in several languages.

It stated that Kinzen will help it provide a safer experience on its global platform since the latter's technology is particularly suited to podcasts and other audio formats.

Searching for indicators of dangerous audio material across hundreds of languages is a challenging task. As a result, Spotify claims Kinzen will help it better comprehend the landscape of platform misuse and identify potential dangers.

In fact, the two corporations have been collaborating since 2020 in an effort to combat election-related disinformation.

According to Crunchbase, Kinzen has raised around €2.3 million in fundraising over two rounds, the most recent being a seed round in November 2020.
