Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 Launched: Super Slim Design, Leica-Tuned Cameras and More

Xiaomi has announced the launch of its latest foldable, the Mix Fold 3. With a remarkably slim profile and a host of advanced features, Xiaomi aims to deliver an exceptional user experience.

An Astonishingly Slim Design

The Mix Fold 3 boasts an impressive slimness, measuring just 5.26mm when unfolded and 10.89mm when folded.

Xiaomi's engineers achieved this feat by designing a vertically stacked motherboard, effectively reducing the phone's size. This sought-after slimness enhances portability and comfort, making it easier to carry and use the device.

Revolutionary Hinge Technology

Xiaomi introduces an all-new proprietary hinge in the Mix Fold 3, showcasing groundbreaking engineering expertise. Comprised of 198 components, this hinge takes up 17% less internal space while ensuring durability.

The hinge utilises a 3-element structure and 14 micro-hinges, enabling the main folding display to tuck in securely. Additionally, the Mix Fold 3's hinge supports a 45°-135° hover opening, allowing users to position the phone like a mini laptop.

E6 OLED Displays

Enhancing the visual experience, the Mix Fold 3 features two E6 OLED displays. The primary 8.03-inch LTPO panel offers a resolution of 1,960 x 2,160px and a smooth 120Hz variable refresh rate. This panel incorporates Ultra Thin Glass (UTG) and provides HDR10+ and Dolby Vision support.

The secondary outer display, measuring 6.56 inches, is equipped with Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and offers up to 2,560 nits of peak brightness in auto mode.

Impressive Camera Capabilities

Xiaomi has partnered with Leica optics to develop the Mix Fold 3's quad camera system, ensuring exceptional photography capabilities. The main camera boasts a 50MP Sony IMX800 sensor with optical image stabilisation (OIS).

In addition, there is a 12MP ultra-wide module for capturing wide-angle shots. The phone also includes a 10MP telephoto lens with 3x zoom and a 10MP periscope module capable of 5x optical zoom. Both telephoto modules feature OIS technology for better stability.

Powerful Performance

Under the hood, the Mix Fold 3 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset and offers impressive specifications.

Users can choose from different RAM and storage configurations, including up to 16GB of RAM and a massive 1TB of storage. To ensure prolonged usage, Xiaomi has equipped the Mix Fold 3 with a larger 4,800mAh battery.

This battery supports 67W wired charging, similar to its predecessor, but now also offers the convenience of 50W wireless charging. The software experience is based on MIUI 14, running on Android 13.

Pricing and Availability

Xiaomi offers the Mix Fold 3 in both glass and composite fibre back versions, with prices remaining consistent regardless of the material choice. Though pre-orders have commenced in China, Xiaomi has not revealed any specific details regarding international availability.
