Samsung pauses One UI 6.1 rollout for Galaxy S22 series due to critical bug

Samsung has temporarily halted the rollout of the One UI 6.1 update for the Galaxy S22 series in South Korea after discovering a critical bug.

This comes just one day after the update began rolling out to the S22 family in the region.

Bug causes issues

The specific nature of the bug has not been officially disclosed, but it appears to cause a complete malfunction of the lock screen and touchscreen functionality after applying the One UI 6.1 update on the Galaxy S22 devices.

While the exact cause remains unknown, this critical issue necessitates the immediate pause of the update rollout to prevent further affected devices.

Unaffected devices

Fortunately, the bug does not seem to be widespread across all Samsung devices receiving the One UI 6.1 update.

The rollout continues for the Galaxy Z Fold4, Z Flip4, and Galaxy S21 series, as the bug appears to be isolated primarily to the Galaxy S22 models.

While the S21 series may have experienced some isolated instances of the bug, it hasn't reached a level necessitating a complete halt to their update rollout.

Users in other markets have n ot yet been affected by the halted rollout. Samsung is likely working to resolve the issue and will presumably resume the update rollout once a fix is implemented.
