Samsung Galaxy S23 FE spotted on Geekbench with surprisingly aged Exynos 2200 SoC: Full specifications

Samsung is apparently preparing to release the Galaxy S23 FE, which is powered by a 1.5-year-old Exynos chipset.

Samsung Galaxy S23 FE: Samsung is making preparations to introduce the next instalment in its Fan Edition (FE) series, with the anticipated launch of the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE in the third quarter of 2023.

As evidence of this upcoming device, a listing on the Geekbench benchmarking platform has surfaced, providing some key details about the phone.

The model number of the device is SM-S711B, and it is expected to run on the latest Android 13 operating system. The listing also indicates that the phone will come equipped with 8GB of RAM, although it remains to be seen whether there will be other RAM options available at launch.

What caught the attention of tech enthusiasts and analysts alike is the mention of the motherboard section, which suggests that the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE will be powered by the Exynos 2200 SoC.

This is rather surprising, as it is an older chipset that was released by Samsung in January 2022. In contrast, the standard Galaxy S23 models are widely expected to feature only the more powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset.

The inclusion of the Exynos 2200 in the Galaxy S23 FE is speculated to be a strategic move by Samsung to utilise excess stock of the chipset and avoid any potential wastage.

By offering the Exynos 2200 in the FE model, Samsung could maximise the use of its older chipsets without affecting the performance or capabilities of its main flagship models.

This decision may also have cost implications, as the Exynos chipset could potentially be more affordable compared to the Snapdragon variant.

Additionally, the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE has previously appeared on China's 3C certification website, further affirming its existence.

Samsung Galaxy S23 FE specifications (expected)

It is expected to have a 6.4-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate for a high-quality viewing experience. Powering the device will be the Exynos 2200 SoC processor.

In terms of RAM and storage, users may have the option of choosing between two variants: one with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage, and another with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage.

As for the camera setup, the Galaxy S23 FE is rumored to come with a 50MP rear camera, an 8MP telephoto lens, and a 12MP ultra wide-angle lens. For selfies and video chats, it could feature a 12MP front camera.

The smartphone is predicted to house a 4,500mAh battery and support 25W fast charging.
