      The launch of the OnePlus Open, the first foldable smartphone from OnePlus, has ignited a fierce competition with the Samsung Z Fold 5, the reigning leader in the foldable segment.

      With both devices offering impressive specifications and features, it's time to take a closer look at how they stack up against each other.

      OnePlus Open vs Samsung Z Fold 5: Display and Design

      The OnePlus Open boasts a 7.82-inch Flexi-fluid AMOLED panel with a dynamic refresh rate ranging from 1 Hz to 120 Hz.

      On the other hand, the Samsung Z Fold 5 flaunts a slightly smaller 7.6-inch QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity Flex display with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate.

      In terms of design, both devices offer a foldable form factor, providing users with a unique and futuristic experience.

      Under the hood, the OnePlus Open is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, coupled with the Adreno 740 GPU.

      It comes with a generous 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB UFS 4.0 ROM, ensuring smooth performance and ample storage space.

      On the other hand, the Samsung Z Fold 5 utilises the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform, accompanied by 12GB of memory. It's available in three storage variants: 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB.

      For power, the OnePlus Open is equipped with a robust 4,805mAh dual-cell battery, which can be fast-charged using the impressive 67W SUPERVOOC Charging from OnePlus.

      In contrast, the Samsung Z Fold 5 relies on a slightly smaller 4,400mAh dual battery, offering support for wired charging of up to 50% in around 30 minutes with a 25W Adapter (sold separately).

      Photography enthusiasts will appreciate the camera capabilities of both smartphones. The OnePlus Open features a 48MP main camera with optical image stabilisation, HDR, and EIS support.

      Additionally, it offers a 48MP ultra-wide sensor and a 64MP telephoto lens, providing versatility in capturing various subjects.

      The Samsung Z Fold 5 houses a 12MP ultra-wide camera, a 50MP wide-angle camera, and a 10MP telephoto camera, ensuring stunning photographs from different perspectives.

      In terms of additional features, the OnePlus Open impresses with its promise of four years of Android operating system updates and five years of security patches.

      However, it lacks wireless charging capability and comes with only IPX4 water resistance. In contrast, the Samsung Z Fold 5 boasts an IPX8 rating for water resistance and supports the use of a stylus with the S Pen (sold separately).
