iPad Air won’t feature mini-LED displays, reveals latest report ahead of the upcoming Let Loose event

Apple's "Let Loose" event on May 7th will introduce a new 12.9-inch iPad Air using LCD technology, not Mini-LED as initially rumored. The event will also preview an upgraded iPad Pro with OLED display.

iPad Air won’t feature mini-LED displays, reveals latest report ahead of the upcoming Let Loose event

As anticipation builds for Apple’s upcoming "Let Loose" event scheduled for May 7th, all eyes are on the expected launch of the iPad Air, particularly the new 12.9-inch model.

Initial reports, credited to Ross Young of Display Supply Chain Consultants, suggested an upgrade to Mini-LED displays, like those used in the iPad Pro. However, recent updates contradict these earlier statements, indicating a continuation of traditional LCD technology in the iPad Air lineup.

Here's the latest information on what to expect from the new iPad Air.

Upcoming iPad Air won’t Feature Mini-LED Not: Latest Update

Ross Young, a notable analyst in display technology, initially hinted that the upcoming 12.9-inch iPad Air might feature Mini-LED technology, which is currently employed in the iPad Pro. This move would have marked a significant upgrade in display quality for the iPad Air models.

However, Young has recently reversed this forecast, now stating that due to cost considerations, Apple will maintain the use of IPS LCD screens.

This decision keeps the iPad Air distinct from the higher-end iPad Pro, which continues to push the envelope in display technology.

New iPad Air Features and Launch Details

Despite the setback in display advancements, the new iPad Air models are still highly anticipated. Scheduled to debut at the "Let Loose" event, these models are expected to include both the current 10.9-inch and the new 12.9-inch versions.

The larger iPad Air aims to provide users with more screen space, aligning with the specs for upcoming iPad Pro models that might see an increase in size up to 13 inches.

Ross Young’s insights continue to shape expectations as he clarified that while the iPad Air will not benefit from Mini-LED technology this year, a new iPad Pro model with an upgraded new iPad Pro display technology, possibly OLED, is on the horizon.

Furthermore, the iPad Pro may receive enhancements like an M3 chipset and a repositioned front-facing camera for better usability in horizontal orientations.

As the iPad Air will not see the introduction of Mini-LED technology this cycle, the focus instead may be on maintaining an affordable price point while differentiating the product from the more premium iPad Pro.

Release date for new iPad Air, further details on the event, and other updates are expected to be revealed in the near future.

Anticipated Developments at Apple’s "Let Loose" Event

Apart from the iPad refreshes, the "Let Loose" event is poised to introduce other significant updates. There is buzz around potential new accessories such as an Apple Pencil and a redesigned Magic Keyboard. These additions are expected to complement the new iPad Air.
