Apple likely running short of 6 million iPhone 14 Pro models

Bloomberg reports that the recent turmoil at Foxconn’s manufacturing plant in China will likely cause a shortage of about 6 million iPhone 14 Pros.

Foxconn’s plant employs more than 200,000 people and is the primary production facility for the iPhone 14 Pro series.

Worker discontent at the plant recently erupted into protests, leading to multiple clashes between workers and security guards.

Workers destroyed corporate property, including several security cameras. Problems include late payments and restrictive covid limits contributed to the discontent.

Foxconn acknowledged the payment issue and attributed it to a technical error. They reported having discovered a solution. However, it was reported that more than 20,000 employees left the organisation the next day. The decreased workforce might also contribute to the lower output volume.

Apple has already issued an official statement confirming shipment delays for the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max earlier this month.
