Cricket World Cup Final: Narendra Modi Stadium falls well short of expected crowd for India vs Australia

Anticipation was high for a full house at the Narendra Modi Stadium during the India vs Australia Cricket World Cup final but as it turned out, the numbers were nowhere close to the capacity crowd that was expected for the marquee clash.

A crowd of around 1,30,000 was expected but the official attendance figures revealed a notable shortfall, with only 92,543 spectators present, nearly 40 thousand less than projected.

Contrary to expectations of setting new attendance records in cricket history, the official turnout was even lower than Australia's 2015 World Cup final against New Zealand at the MCG. During that match, where Australia emerged victorious, a total of 93,013 spectators witnessed the live action at the iconic stadium.

The gap between the anticipated and actual attendance has become a talking point, raising questions about the factors contributing to the variance in expected and recorded numbers at one of the most significant cricket events.
