Lionel Messi and Aitana Bonmati claim top prizes at Best FIFA Football Awards

Lionel Messi and Aitana Bonmati respectively won the Best FIFA Men's and Women's Awards during the ceremony held at the Hammersmith Apollo in London on Monday.

Inter Miami and Argentina forward Messi won the award for a 3rd time as he edged out Manchester City striker Erling Haaland and Paris Saint-Germain attacker Kylian Mbappe.

Thierry Henry collected the award on behalf of Messi as he didn't attend the award ceremony and decided to stay in America to train with Inter Miami, according to reports.

Spain's World Cup winner Bonmati beat her Barcelona teammate Jenni Hermoso and Real Madrid's Linda Caicedo to the women's prize.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola won the Best FIFA Men's Coach Award after he led the Citizens to the treble of English Premier League, English FA Cup and UEFA Champions League in the 2022-23 season, while the club's Brazilian shot-stopper Ederson collected the Best FIFA Men's Goalkeeper Award.

England manager Sarina Wiegman won the Best FIFA Women's Coach Award and Mary Earps claimed the Best FIFA Women's Goalkeeper Award - it marked the second year in a row that the pair had won the top prize in their respective categories.

Guilherme Madruga, who plays for second-tier Brazilian side Botafogo, won the Puskas Award for the best goal after he produced a spectacular 25-yard overhead kick.
