Cristiano Ronaldo, expressed his delight at securing the top goalscorer title for the year 2023, surpassing Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe in the rankings.

'I like to prove doubters wrong': Cristiano Ronaldo opens up on topping the scoring charts in 2023

Cristiano Ronaldo has scored an incredible 54 goals in 59 appearances for Al-Nassr after joining the team in January of last year. That total was higher than the 52 goals, 52 goals, and 50 goals that Kylian Mbappe, Harry Kane, and Erling Haaland scored, respectively.

Of course, one could argue that because the aforementioned trio scored goals in three of Europe's top five divisions, they should feel unfairly treated, but Ronaldo was happy with his total, especially considering that his career is coming to a close.

Speaking at the awards ceremony, Ronaldo said: "I was the best goalscorer this season, Imagine beating young animals like Haalan, I’m proud. And I’ll be 39 soon. I like it when people doubt me again and then I’m successful. I don’t get affected by the criticism.”

Ronaldo then discussed the Saudi Pro League and stated his belief that it was, in fact, stronger than France's Ligue 1.

He said: "To be honest, I think the Saudi league is not worse than the French league, in my opinion.
