Brendan Rodgers has made a highly anticipated comeback to Celtic, marking his return after a four-and-a-half-year hiatus since departing the Scottish champions in the middle of the season to lead Leicester City in England.

The announcement of Rodgers' appointment was made on Monday, generating mixed reactions among Celtic fans due to his departure in February 2019 when the team was on the verge of securing the Scottish title.

Following his dismissal from Leicester on April 2, just before their relegation from the Premier League at the end of May, Rodgers has been without a managerial position. During his tenure at Leicester, he achieved notable success by winning the FA Cup and securing European qualification through two consecutive fifth-place finishes.

Rodgers will be replacing Ange Postecoglou, who left Celtic to assume the managerial role at Tottenham Hotspur after securing a remarkable Scottish league-Scottish Cup-Scottish League Cup treble last season.

During his initial stint at Celtic, Rodgers achieved an outstanding treble in his first two seasons (2016-17 and 2017-18) and guided the team to victory in the League Cup in his third season before departing for Leicester.

Expressing his delight, Rodgers stated, "I am really delighted to return to Celtic, and I am hugely excited by this great opportunity. When I was given the privilege of being asked to join the club again, it was a very simple decision for me and my family."

He further added, "We have enjoyed some great times at Celtic before and this will be my goal again, to deliver good football, ensure we have a team we all love to watch and ultimately bring more success to our fans."
