Espanyol Beats Sevilla 2-1 Ending Losing Streak in La Liga

Barcelona, Nov 25 (AP) Espanyol secured a crucial 2-1 victory over Sevilla on Monday, ending a run of two consecutive defeats.

Pere Milla gave the Catalan side the lead three minutes into the second half with a well-timed header, completely unmarked in the box.

Roberto Fernández then extended Espanyol's advantage with a stunning 25-yard lob six minutes before the final whistle, catching the Sevilla goalkeeper off his line.

Just two minutes later, Marcão struck back for the visitors, heading the ball into the net via a corner and slipping past defender Leandro Cabrera, which raised hopes for an intense finale. However, Sevilla failed to find an equalizer.

This victory marks Espanyol's best start to a La Liga season since the 2018-19 campaign, keeping them in a strong sixth position.

Meanwhile, Sevilla struggles in mid-table after enduring four defeats in their last five league matches. (AP)
