Indian opener KL Rahul, who is named vice-captain for South Africa Tests, has revealed that six-seven months ago he never thought that he would get to play Test cricket again.

In a candid chat with teammate Mayank Agarwal, KL Rahul said that before six-7 months or a year ago, he never thought of playing another Test for India.

He further explained that he made his debut in a Boxing Day Test in Australia but that did not go well and he failed to keep his position in the team.

Rahul was appointed as vice-captain for the Test series against the Proteas after Rohit Sharma was ruled out of the red-ball tour due to a hamstring injury.

Rahul made his test debut in 2014 and but lost his place in the team due to lack of form and injuries.

He has amassed 2321 runs in 40 Tests at an average of 35.16 with six hundred and 12 fifties. The Karnataka batter has been in good knick this year, scoring 315 runs in 4 Tests during the England tour at an average of 39.37, including a century and one fifty.
