Rinku Singh finished with a six that didn't count; here's why | IND vs AUS 1st T20I

Rinku Singh may have finished with a flourish in the first T20I against Australia on Nov 23 but the maximum off his bat didn't count.

In a nail-biting encounter, India needed just 1 off the last ball, Rinku hit Sean Abbott for a six over long on but the Australian had overstepped and it was a a no-ball.

While India did win the last-ball thriller, Rinku's six was not added to the total or to his score.

This is because according to rules, India's win was secured when Abbott overstepped which preceeded Rinku's six.

According to ICC Men’s T20I Playing Conditions, clause 16.5.1: 'As soon as a result is reached as defined in clauses 16.1, 16.2 or 16.3.1, the match is at an end. Nothing that happens thereafter, except as in clause 41.17.2 (Penalty runs), shall be regarded as part of it'.
